General

Some good catches when overcast the sun making fish stop feeding as much with best catches from dawn to around 11am also from 4 till dusk and through the night.

A week where cold nights dropped water temperature, fishing now going into Autumn methods and baits.

You need to try and have a variety of baits including paste, pellet, sweetcorn, worm (both on its own and as a cocktail tipped with sweetcorn, maggot, or caster) maggot, and caster. Feed Angel pellets sparsely and every five minutes,  for the feeder use maggot feeder or groundbait with maggots in mixed with fish meal.

Savoury flavourings now holding there own and will all through the autumn & winter flavours like chilly, paprika, garlic, liquid worm, mussel, predator plus and minnging fish all doing well.

Fish shoaling into species and sizes shoals for example carp up to 2lb are together then 5lbs etc, Large bream keeping together and skimmer shoals now very large. Tench feeding very well ready for winter with some excellent numbers coming out. Crucians also being caught in good numbers and Ide piling on weight and lots of 2lb plus out on both mixed coarse lakes.

I would recommend if fishing waggler or pole to always have the tip road with you on Bowes and Lookout as water temperature drops.

Catches are now about choosing pegs according to watercraft, weather, wind direction and barometer, still large catches are possible but most pleasure anglers doing 25 to 30 fish in a day unless you get into good shoals then anything is possible.

Bill Wayne from Blyth and his friend had a great day on pegs 1 and 2 between them taking over 145 fish.  Comprising  carp to 6lb 8oz, Ide over 2lb, Crucians average 2lb, skimmers, 4 good bream above 5lb, rudd, roach, and tench both Golden and green best to over 3lb. they used pole and tip to back bank with cubed meat on the hook, maggots, and worm and also pellet.

Ironically no reported perch this week have been caught, and some of the large bream over 5lb have gone into spawning mode again with their modules very prominent in the males which is strange with it so late in the year and considering water temperatures.  Some superb silver fish coming out as well as lots of carp who are shoaling up in groups and not moving as much around the lakes.

atches are now about choosing pegs according to watercraft, weather, wind direction and barometer, still large catches are possible but most pleasure anglers doing 25 to 30 fish in a day unless you get into good shoals then anything is possible including some excellent 20s out again this week as carp are feeding up for their winter rest.

Season ticket holder Paul Gibson is now getting used to the lake & was fishing at dusk and targeting large carp has had some excellent lumps out this week.  Paul tends to not spend long hours fishing but gets to know the best times of the day to target the lumps and may only spend 4 hours at a time.

Pleasure anglers catch numbers are around 10 fish in a half a day right up to 62 depending on getting the peg correct.

Some good Ide coming out up to 2lb and in mint condition, carp, crucians, tench and silvers with skimmers proving some larger numbers caught.

Coaching

Coaching is still ongoing as catch rates are still there, but making students really understand cold water fishing conditions which is critical to getting good catch rates.
