Angel of the North Fishing Lakes Match and Catch Report to 29th July 07
Some Excellent catches this week with some great weights. In Silver fish for example on Sunday’s match 67lb 4oz in Silvers was part of the Chris Owers weight. Carp still feeding the best at Dusk and Dawn however get the feed patterns correct and great catches can be had again Sunday Ray Underwood’s carp bag was 39lb 8oz in the match.
Bassetts fished exceptionally well all of last week with a excellent range of species and size of fish being caught by new anglers on our coaching sessions. Golden Orfe being voted the prettiest fish caught and carp the fish with the most fight.
Bowes This lake is fantastic if your method and tactics are worked out correctly, feed is the key to great catches at this time of year, and pellet on the hook works wonders, worm tail, paste also multiple maggots still doing the business.
Peg 20 is proving a great peg for double figured Carp together with peg 29, pegs 1, 40, 16, 34 very good pegs for pleasure anglers.
Lookout Most anglers are amazed at the range of species and the variation in sizes of the fish in this lake. Carp and Tench are in feeding frenzies readying for spawning (just waiting for the water to warm up again) but silvers are feeding heavily after spawning and in Sundays match 67lb 4 oz of silvers was part of the winning weight.
A great week for new anglers coming into our sport during National Fishing Week attending the Fishing Taster sessions with the youngest 4 yr old Alexia, who also appeared on TV to Mr Stark at 76yrs old and the week ended with a 5-hour fly-fishing for carp tuition session on Sunday.
We are keeping the coaching sessions going through August with a Fishing Festival with the theme of Chill Out Learn to Fish and trying to get people to unwind by going fishing, but also getting the exhilaration of the catch. We are continuing to offer group or one to one coaching sessions to beginners, sea or game anglers to get people into coarse fishing.
We also have a very active junior club where we have fishing sessions, matches, and workshops to develop practical skills, cognit6tive skills, and correct attitude.
We are looking to recruit more intermediate members with the age of 16 to 21 yr old to develop more intermediate matches.
So All of August is our Fishing Festival -Learn to Switch Off and Fish!

Chris Fished Pole, line 0.15 started at 12 mtres on paste got some carp in first hour, switched to 5 mtres and pellets for rest match.

Chris fished pole Margins, 6mtrs, 8 mtrs and 10 mtrs out on hook pellet, over angel feed pellets.
Wind was swinging and spoiled everyone’s presentation on pole but it was a warm dry night.
