Weekly report for week ending 7th April, 2013

Our big news this week is the introduction of over one hundred and ninety stunning fish into our new water. Many of the carp released into Jo-Jo’s Lake have been grown on from spawn harvested at Emperor Lakes three years ago, some have been crossed with a superb strain produced by Chris Manifold and there are more from Lana Springs Farm.

The new arrivals bring the total number of fish to around four hundred and will ensure good sport throughout the year for those who seek a ‘runs water’. All of the ‘hard’ construction is now completed, planting is in progress and it should be green and pleasant! The fish are currently being left to adapt to their new home and fishing will commence in the very near future; watch this space!

Stocking Carp

Our previously syndicated water is now offering full day ticket access and the first week has seen numerous new visitors keen to test their skills against carp to over 44lbs. Amongst the better fish was High Wycombe angler Marc Brion who had a superb 27lbs 2ozs common in pristine condition, and Pallatrax rod Luke Ayling who bagged himself a 28lbs+ mirror from Swim 6 using a Jungle bait offered snowman style from a reeded area. As the water temperatures continue to rise, the fish will certainly feed a lot harder than last week, which has unfortunately seen freezing winds and difficult conditions both day and night.

Tench fishing in DevonMichael Bartomoloey continues to do well using a traditional centrepin and avon rod for much of his float fishing. After taming a 26lbs+ carp on similar gear last week, Michael has been back again to tempt plenty of silver fish and some nice tench to over 6lbs.

Pleasure anglers report good mixed nets of roach, carp, bream and others falling to the usual maggots, worm, corn and pellet tactics.

A plot onsite has now also been selected for the next stage of Emperor Lakes development; our new shop and cafe area will be conveniently sited to allow anglers to purchase drinks and meals or browse for tackle essentials. The new building will be erected soon, so be sure to pop in!
