Fishery report for week ending 24th March, 2013

When will this poor weather ever end?! With freezing conditions, rain, sleet, snow and sunshine, we’ve had it all this week….but we have still had fish on the bank!

Phil Jakes has been one of our more consistent anglers over the last few months and he has been catching again with a 26lbs mirror from the Syndicate. It’s another example of Phil’s steady approach, applying a quality bait in the right places and having enough patience in awful weather.

Peter Amey supplies this week’s big story; 76 year old Pete has been an angler for many years and has accounted for numerous big fish during that time, so Emperor Lakes were delighted to witness Peter land a superb 31lbs 8ozs mirror on Nutrabaits boilies. Peter was lucky enough to have Neil Edgar nearby who took some great pictures to remember his fish by; you can find out more about Neil Edgar Angling Photography by looking at his Facebook page….

Tench FishingOn our coarse lakes, Aaron West set a new Paignton Sea Anglers Association junior record with a fantastic early season tench of 7lbs 9ozs! Aaron fished Aimee’s pool peg one using a waggler and took his record on a mix of maggot and corn. Other anglers report steady bags coming to corn, maggot, bread and worm hook baits with plenty of good roach being caught….

Our new pool has seen the initial stock of 160 fish introduced as the pool continues to settle. The weather has at least helped fill it with water as the levels start to stabilise. More fish will be introduced shortly to give anglers another option on site, and extensive planting will commence this week….weather permitting!

Social media forms an active part of our exposure and we continue to add Emperor Lakes supporters to our Facebook and Twitter accounts; we’ve also attracted the attention of more big name anglers who have enquired about fishing with us, so you never know who you might meet on the banks! Steve Renyard, Julian Chidgey, Martin Bowler and others have all visited recently and that is set to continue when another well known publication confirms a session with us!

The former Syndicate will be day ticket from April 1st, so if you fancy a crack at our lake records, please give us a ring on 07814060147; anyone who does break a current record wins a special prize! Details at www.emperorlakes.co.uk
