Weekly Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area

“So many new and ex-members have joined Luton AC in the past 2 weeks and if this trend continues some of our members of last season who have yet to renew might find it difficult to do so if they leave it for too long” – That was the message from David Edwards Chairman of Luton AC who was telling me this week that the club is fast approaching its maximum number of members and those that don’t join in time will be disappointed and have to go on a waiting list for next season.

At North House Lake on the Wyboston Complex Micky Bond landed 7 commons of 26lb, 18lb, 18lb, 14lb, 13.5lb, 13lb & 12lb, Harvie Millier managed a 19lb common and his father Glenn a 16lb common while on the adjacent South Lagoon an angler known only as Toby had a 24lb common from peg 2.

On the canal Dave Hulks from Braggers match group had a mainly bream bag of 35lb from Slapton. Lee George and Paul Hammond had carp to 13lb and bream to 4lb fishing luncheon meat north of Leighton Buzzard. Ashley Phenan age 16 had 2 low doubles one a ghostie again from a section North of Leighton buzzard.

Ian Dilley was at Beckerings Reservoir where he tempted a 19lb 8oz mirror and 20lb 8oz common.

There is now only a couple of places left for the 24 hour carp match to be fished at Beckerings Reservoir on 12th & 13th June with over £440 of prizes provided by Jag Products, Nash Tackle, CC Moore, Fishing Wizard and Browns Angling Centre Leighton Buzzard. Details of how to book your place can be found in the Luton AC Newsletter out now which can be downloaded from the web site (link on home page).

Luton AC invested over £20,000 in stocking and fisheries improvement work during 2009. This investment is ongoing and is reflected by the number of work parties that took place throughout March, April & May. Membership prices will remain unchanged for the coming season with all waters except the river sections remaining open for the full 12 months.

The new Barretts Mere on the Tingrith Complex will be open for fishing on 7th June having been recently stocked with 1000 rudd and crucian carp in addition to the skimmer bream that were introduced last year. Please take time to read the rules displayed on site regarding this water.

On Saturday 8th May & Sunday 9th May a fantastic new secure off road car park area was created at the Great Ouse Lavendon. Access to the car park is via a locked gate using the club key with a further gate allowing access down to the river.
