So get snapping and forward your pictures to our usual email address catchreports@lutonac.org or send from your mobile to 07704462635.

Woodlands Lake will be closed on Saturday 14th August 2010 to make safe a dangerous tree which appears to have been struck by lightning. The adjacent Barretts Mere will remain open.
Several members have been told to leave Woodlands & Barretts Mere lately as they didnt have an unhooking mat with them. The rules are very clear, so if you don’t bring an unhooking mat with you you will not be welcome at these waters. Even if like myself you unhook your fish in the landing net between your legs and do not allow the net to rest of the platform an unhooking mat must still be with you when you fish at these two lakes.

TenchDuring my week off I visited Woodlands and had the place to myself during my 6am-midday session. The bream really went on the feed and I had 75 between 1lb & 3lb, 8 carp to 4lb (lost 3), 3 tench to 4lb 3oz, 4 rudd (first time I have caught rudd from Woodlands), plus lots of roach including a few nice quality fish and many smaller skimmers for a total weight estimated well in excess of 150lb. My back certainly reminded me for a couple of days how many fish I had caught. Successful method was slow sinking pellet up in the water at 13m fishing 4-5ft in the 13ft deep open water swim.

James Muncaster was at Beckerings Reservoir near Flitwick landing the Big Common down in weight at 26lb 6oz along with eight others to 23lb. Mark Ridgeway fished for 36 hours landing twenty one fish to 19lb+ and a bonus catfish of 30lb 2oz. Scott Larman managed 3 doubles to 14lb as did Mick Stringer. Dave Harman was at the same venue where he caught a 16lb 3oz common using a pineapple & scopex mini snowman over a bed of bloodworm pellets, sweetcorn and tigernut boilies, Dave tells me this unusual combination was due to him running out of bait and using what he had leftover.
Darren Bliss fished for the roach and bream at Beckerings landing a personal best bream of 7lb 9oz along with some 12oz roach.

David Starling has been having success on North House Lake at the Wyboston Complex with a 21lb 2oz mirror and commons of 20lb 8oz, 16lb 4oz, 14lb, 12lb and 12lb. S Peters banked an 18lb 8oz mirror, Harvie Millier commons of 16lb 7oz, 13lb 11oz and 5lb, Glen Millier a 24lb 6oz common, Gary Murraybrooks a 17lb common, Mark Hodgson a 17lb common and D Marsh landed the Wanderer at 27lb 15oz.

Mirror Carp
David Starling 21lb 2oz mirror

On the adjacent South Lagoon Gary Rosenthal tempted a 17lb common along with six bream to 7lb. Richard Cinato fishing peg 1 had a good haul with commons of 21lb 15oz, 20lb 14oz, 20lb 8oz along with an 18lb 1oz mirror and four small doubles.

The Grand Union Canal continues to fish well for most species with plenty of double figure carp and the occasional 20lber being caught. Anglers wishing to night fish the Luton AC controlled stretch are reminded that only members can fish at night.
