On the South Lagoon James Knott landed an 18lb mirror along with eight bream to 5lb 8oz while nearby Eric Jones using his own Red Eric Baits had two commons of 17lb 8oz and 16lb 4oz in what he described as a ‘quiet weekend’ for the usually prolific hauler.

Nearby on the River Great Ouse Robert Langdon tempted a 15lb 8oz pike during the hours of darkness.

On the adjacent North House Lake it was a tale of two halves with the early part of the week producing most of the fish and after Wednesday very little was caught. Common Carp

55lb 10oz mirror carpFurther afield I reported last week about Mark Ridgeway from Luton catching a 55lb 10oz mirror from Elphicks North Lake in Kent and he has sent me the picture. The group of seven caught approximately 50 fish including lots over 30lb plus a 66lb catfish.

Andy Tomlinson has just returned from 4 days shark fishing off Cornwall which resulted in 26 blue shark for well over 1000lb. The best went 109lb, a figure calculated by the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain from its 92″ length and 32.5″ girth. The best days fishing resulted in 14 shark which was a new personal best for the boats skipper with over 25 years experience and will probably win him a trophy for the most shark caught in a days fishing.
