Fly fishing update for week ending 15th April, 2012 – report by Chris Newell

Nar Valley Fisheries new Trout water, Hobbs Lake, is fishing very well despite the stormy weather.

On Tuesday we held an open day for prospective members to view the fishery, while a small group of youngsters were coached in the art of flyfishing by local game-angling instructor Jim Gill. Jim kept the boys on task for the whole day and the climax was when James landed his first ever Trout in difficult conditions when putting all he had learned into practise.

We are planning to hold more coaching sessions during the summer, if you are interested contact Jim on 07983 107158.

The Hobbs Lake members have had some terrific sport with trout following sedge patterns and supping buzzers, all in the upper reaches of the water. In the morning and late afternoon lots of fish are rising all over the lake, but the area around the North bank point appears to hold the best prospects.

For information of the fishery or joining details contact Chris on 01553 636507.
