Mike Devereux smashed the Old Oaks record on 5th September 2012 with a magnificent 61.04 common.
He explains:
“We had left peg 5 empty & I reckon this resulted in me personally having a session I may never experience again. I was fishing peg 4 so I did a bit of plumming in peg 5 & quickly found an area within easy reach from my peg. I put just one rod on the spot and introduced a bit of bait.
“Within 40 minutes I’d had a 39lb 5oz. I kept the bait trickling in with a boilie only approach and by Wednesday morning the two pegs had produced 17 carp for me.
“It was on that Wednesday morning that I hit into a carp that was obviously a very big fish indeed… & getting it to the net only confirmed this. A beautiful looking common of 61lb 4oz! What a result!”
