News Release From The Scottish Countryside Alliance Educational Trust (SCAET)

Scottish angling is to benefit from a new Business Development Manager, the Scottish Countryside Alliance Educational Trust (SCAET) is delighted to announce.

Following 3 years of investment in the Scottish National Angling Programme (SNAP) by SCAET, funding has now been secured from Sportscotland for the ongoing development of angling in Scotland.

SNAP was established by the SCAET to develop sustainability in Scottish angling and as a catalyst to help the angling community grow and develop their sport.

Amongst the many achievements of SNAP was the bringing together of the many groups involved in the three main types of angling in Scotland to jointly develop ‘one plan’ for angling.

‘One Plan’ will now be handed over in its entirety to the three angling governing bodies and will help to steer the soon to be appointed Business Development  Manager through the  development of angling at grass-roots level,  coach education, facilities development, and improved marketing of angling development.

Nicola Chalmers-Watson, SCAET Chief Executive, stated, “we are delighted by this investment from Sportscotland, which endorses the work of Scotland’s angling governing bodies and the Scottish National Angling Programme, ensuring the future of angling development.

SCAET aims to ensure the sustainability of the Scottish countryside. We had the vision to create SNAP in 2005and have invested heavily in it since then – it is right that this development programme is now being taken on in full by the sport’s governing bodies, and we wish them every success with ‘One Plan’.”

“After three years of developing SNAP, I am delighted to be leaving it in the capable hands of the governing bodies and Sportscotland” says Ian Robertson, outgoing SNAP Programme Manager. “The success of any project is down to the input from the community that the programme is designed to develop, and I would like to wish the three angling governing bodies every success with the implementation of the new plan”.
