Week ending 28/6/09

Trout Fishing
Fishing has been great this week with plenty of trout including a few doubles feeding hard.  Trout have been feeding well early mornings or late evenings with this hot weather with some great evenings rises.  Local angler Harry Arnfield had a fine evenings sport taking 10 fish up to the 8lb mark,  Harry started off on a small Black buzzer taking a few fish then came up to dries as the trout started to rise in the evening.  Fishing has been a lot better on the Railway pool as the water is deeper and there isn’t the same amount of weed.  Small nymphs, Buzzers, Montana’s and dries have been the best flies fished on a floater.  The Swan Necks pool will be netted this coming week and the majority of the fish will be put into the Railway pool so it will give the fishing another boost,  fishing will still be allowed on the Swans Neck as all the fish won’t be caught and moved, see you up here soon and tight lines.

Coarse Fishing
Plenty of good bags have been coming off the Old Pool this week with tench, Carp and bream now starting to feed after spawning.  Tench have been taken up to 7lb with 4 over the 6lb mark from pegs all over the lake,  some of the better bream have also shown up on the banks.  Pegs 1-9 have fished well again either on the pole or the feeder to the middle or on the island,  Lots have fish have now moved into the woods pegs11-15 as reeds have been planted between each peg offering the fish some cover and boy do they like it.  Fishing close in on the pole has been great with some of the fish feeding better in the shade under the trees or reeds,  Chopped worm has produced a lot of fish as well as Red Maggot, Corn and Meat.  The fishing has been a lot better in the morning or later on in the evenings as the sun has been so hot during the middle of the day the fish have haven’t been feeding so be patient or come nice and early or later on in the day.

See you soon. Tight Lines, Phil
