All 3 lochans at Wellsfield Fishery fished very well for fly and bait fishing again this week for most anglers. Fly fishers caught most fish 2-4ft under the surface using floating or sink tip lines, whilst bait anglers using ledgered baits with polystyrene pop ups were most successful.
Many anglers caught their fish limits with an average weight of 3lb 2oz. Rainbows, Blues and Brown Trout featured amongst the catches.
FISH OF THE WEEK was a 8lb 6oz Rainbow Trout caught by Mr Robert Murray (Tillicoultry) on a Craftye Eye Cat lure (see photo below).
One RED TAGGED £50 Prize Trout was caught by lucky angler D Finlayson (Cumbernauld) from the middle fly pond using an Claret Hopper.
Best flies this week: Black/Green Tadpole, Craft Eye Cats, Yellow Dancer, Ace of Spades, HH Green Pea, Buzzers, Diawl Bachs. Best Baits: Maggots, Worms and Small Mepps.
