The extension to the top fly pond is fishing very well and many larger fish are coming off that area of this fly fishing pond. With the cooler water temperatures many large fish are now being caught on fly and bait. The late night evening fishing sessions till 10pm are ongoing. High catch rates for anglers with the right fly or bait was typical last week. The average fish size was 3lb 3oz, with many fish at the 4lb–5lb mark plus the occasional specimen.
Blobs are deadly at the moment for fly fishers fished with a mid to fast retrieve, Dancers and Fritzes also doing well. For bait anglers Spinners, Powerbait and Maggots were most successful.
Two double figure specimens and a Yellow £50 prize tag were caught this week. A Watson (Kincardine) caught a fine 12lb rainbow in his 4 for 22lb using blobs, R Thomson (Camelon) landed a fine 10lb rainbow using powerbait in his 4 for 19lb from the bait pond.
