Hardy and Greys is backing up its move into the mainstream coarse market with the appointment of a highly experienced coarse fishing consultant.
Dave Coster, a well-known figure in the sport, is joining the Northumbrian-based company to help with the development of its new range of coarse fishing tackle.
The appointment follows the announcement by Hardy & Greys at the start of the year of its intentions to enter the mainstream coarse market and the appointment of Andy Petherick as Marketing Manager for the Coarse and Sea disciplines.
Dave, who will be working alongside Andy to produce a wide range of coarse fishing tackle for the company covering everything from rods and reels to smaller accessories, says he is delighted to be involved with such a prestigious company as Hardy & Greys.
“They have a great team of people working for the company,” he said. “I’ve already made many good friends there.”
A keen match angler, Dave has won too many trophies to mention – both with top teams and individually. He added: “I started fishing when I was five and have spent the past 49 years fishing all over the world.
“I particularly like the buzz of match fishing, although really I love all aspects of the sport. The first rod I ever bought was a Hardy Matchmaker, so you could say things have gone full circle!”
Andy Petherick said that Dave’s appointment was a highly significant part of plans by Hardy & Greys to design and develop innovative, high-quality products, which will directly appeal to a new generation of coarse angler.
“Dave brings a unique combination of retailing knowledge, journalistic knowledge and expertise out on the bank,” he said.
“He will be a huge asset as we expand our energies into the mainstream coarse arena.”
Dave Coster had 25 years experience of running his own fishing tackle shop before selling up and moving on to be the coarse fishing consultant at Wickford Angling Centre, which is now one of the biggest fishing tackle retail outlets in the country.
In addition to writing several best-selling books on coarse fishing, Dave is well known as an angling journalist having had features and product reviews published regularly in a range of publications over the past 25 years.
