    cod

down would be no problem , 30 seconds with the harnes and decender , it's the up bit that would take a bit more effort , and you could bet the day you did it you would end up fishing in the green springs at the end of the match

    cod

have to agree on the funney bite thing some baits they pull the rod out of your hand then the neat cast with another bait they just nibble at it . i had the upper hand on sunday , just as i only managed one , he only had a rockling but lost a bit better fish , couldent manage to keep it going through the kelp i think it was proberbly one of those awkward 3lbers big enough to get you fast but not quite big enough to pul it out , i broke it out 3 times ond on the 4th it bust the snood hard luck but thats fishing , gave him a good walk though down the iron springs and round into the mid way , he sure slept well last night

    Dog Bites Shark

could do with a dog like that myself to land cod when thers a good surf running
  6. i agree i to thought that we would be knee deep in 1 1/2 ib codlings this winter , the last time i had my boat out about 7 weeka ago [ same day as brid open that chad won witha 10lber ] 3 freinds and i had thick end of 100 codling about 300 yards from the cliff at bemption while monty burton stood on the crab scar all day and never had a bite , the fish were just that bit far out but since then they seem to have done a dissapearing act , or i've lost it and are just c@@p at cod fishing nowadays . Things dont look good for the near future we need a blow baddly , i've sacked it this weekend and am going fly fishing with mart on sunday figured i might as well blank a 100 yards from the car as hike down a big cliff an stumbel over rocks for 20 minuits for nowt . ps i usally manage to wangle at least one or two decent bags a year out perhaps i'm just waiting for one of the opens , maybe the ship if you'll come and stand next to me think you may bring me good luck
  7. dont know about missing out on some of the best fishing for years , ive been fishing a long time glen and its and its the first winter that i havent had at least 2 double figure bags in club matchs befor now, that said the condishions on tusdays seem to c@@p this year hence why i'm hear tonight and not fishing. Mart said the young lad was on the brig , could have been down the end , fanced that myself but when i got to the brig at 12 [started elsewhere] the wind was real bad so i went down the back the just as low warter came the wind slackened of , still you carn't win em all. as for scraching hooks i've allready scaled down to a 5/0 razor claw big bend for this years small run of fish ,or lack of better fish which ever way you look at it
  8. nice pics glen , looks like you were'nt that busy with the rod if you had time to take a few snaps , not that i was much better had a couple of codling about 1 1/2 lb each new it was proberbly goint to be a poor weigh in but our lass said that the yorkshire puds were ready at five and i was fishing on the brig so i couldent be bothered to trail up to whitby and miss out on sunday lunch. on the subject of fish its been dam hard down this end , not blanked on a tus night yet but have only had a couple of small mops each trip for the last month, i think unles we get a good stur up it could be a long hard winter
  9. Mr crabs are often the larger round hear as with most crabs the mail has a narrow tail/flap with two prongs [ dont Know the corect name] and the female has a wide flap with a couple of holes in to take the said pointy things , maybe the doc will step in with the corect termanoligy
  10. was it those small hooks again glenn
  11. no good glenn i took my boy kyle with me so wanted somewhere easy, he showed me the way, 3 bites 1 codling 1 rockling and mised 1 , my rod never moved. had 5 seals wathing us at our first mark , shame because it looked spot on. ray madison won with 4 for 12lb somthing , kyle managed 3rd in the junors so the day wasent a complete waste he got £20
  12. a bit to ground swelley for my likeing down there today glen as u know i have been known to venture down on the odd time or two

    Abu 7000

the old C modles had ball races the red ones had bronze bushes, nowa days the cheep black ones that have a plastic spools engage/disengage button also have bronze spool bushes as well as a few other cheep short cuts inside . hope that helps a bit
  14. yes paul but my kid's and yours would would see the benafits, and that's matters now , not wait and see if there are any cod left for them to catch
  15. 1st and second heavyest bags came from the brig , i had 1 cod 4 11 and 3 wrass + a billit to make 14lb 6 oz to win the super pool gorge smith had 2 cod [3lbers] 2 or 3 wrass and a pollock for 11lb ish , thuing was i didnt expect the heavyest bag as the rumers were that gorge had 1 6lb 1 5lb a pollock about 4 and some 3lb wrass also heard he was the one that said that was what he had on the phone to snapper dobson from sea angler . geuss he doent see that many 5lbrs to know what they look like
  16. couldent have been big cod they never damaged the car , he would have just smashed the windshild

    summer's back

i caught a few out of weymouth last back, pritty little fish
  18. i have got to agree with that one . there usally the ones that stick with the same 2lb chrome pirk when all the rest of the anglers have filled there boots on shads or lead heads then blame there location on the boat
  19. are you saying me and big cod resemble the jolly green giant ? i had an extreme a while back [ some swine stole it out of my car] i use a nemasis diabalo for the rough stuff and its a bit stiffer than the extreme was , it needs at least 7oz leads to bend it somtimes use 9oz fish leads when cliff fishing they stick like limpits
  20. CPS - you're just clumsy no it's the animals that go with me that do all the damage, that and airport bagage handlers
  21. don't know about the guides as i have knocked 3 out of mine in about 4 years [ about 50 trips a year]
  22. how about a shimano charter specal 2000 , lever and level wind, i have a 1000 and i'ts been flawless holds 300 yards of 20lb fireline , just
  23. paul i have a 15lb ugly stick excel very soft in the tip but power house but coupled with a small leaver drag[tld 10 etc] and 20lb fire line and there aint nothing swiming in our seas it won't stop. I've had stingray to 160lb in africa and big sharks in the states carn't see the point in getting any heaver unless you want a work out with 2lb of pirk
  24. nice rods , shame they don't know how to make reels, knowing U as well as i do paul i should think you'll be testing to distruction
  25. your not scared of fishing against Mr T are you glen? after all he's only human
