  1. I'll stick a cheque in the post too Steve.
  2. I'll put my neck on the line and say that Bury Hill Fisheries (Dorking) is the best commercial complex within a 15 mile radius of there. Other commercial choices within a 15 mile radius include: Henfold Lakes Gabriel's Fishery Beaver Farm Fisheries Godstone Vineyard Lake South Norwood Lake Burgess Park Epsom Stew Pond Woodpeckers Course Fishery Hope that helps.
  3. Ah well, spring IS in the air, and it IS the spawning season afterall! And back down to earth with a bump, BBQ and lobworm (though not on the same plate please!) payments sent via Paypal Steve. I'm itching to see what the weather will like, a little too early to tell.
  4. BBQ, cider, AND swingers...
  5. I've seen a review of hook sharpness online somewhere, with close up photos of the hook points, I found it quite interesting.
  6. Thanks Steve, well done all. Gosh, so little time to prepare, and I've got nothing to wear! Looking forward to meeting lots of new faces.
  7. Interesting Newt. I'm now getting this error message here occasionally: 'IPS Driver Error There appears to be an error with the database. You can try to refresh the page by clicking here'
  8. Hmm, thanks all, plenty of food for thought.
  9. Well I feel a little more relaxed bait wise now, thanks guys. I'll add some boilies to my arsenal just in case.
  10. Ohh, top man, thank you very much Budgie. (and now trying his luck) Does anyone know a good boilie flavour and size for tench? And the best bit? I had 100% confidence in my 'should I get to Wingham tench methods and bait', and it didn't involve boilies! Now I'm full of doubt and back to square one! Grrrrr.
  11. If I pass Selection, does anyone have a bedchair I could kindly borrow for the fish-in?
  12. Hmm, actually I usually don't like to borrow, silly pride and all that, but as the fish-in is my main concern, that's actually a splendid idea, at least I can see whether a bedchair is something I'd like to invest in.
  13. Hmm, OK, I should point out that I camp at least yearly, sometimes more, and have done since I started Cubs almost 40 years ago. I sleep on the floor in a bag, usually on foam, sometimes not, but last year (due to a bad back and complaining partner) on an air bed. I'll agree not the same as home comforts, but certainly acceptable. I'm reluctant to spend yet more money (how often have I said that here! ) on a bedchair that will get used so rarely, even though I fully appreciate it is the ultimate solution. After my Predator Fish-In experience earlier in the year I've realised I'm going to have to upgrade my worn out warm weather camping sleeping bag to at the very least a 3 season jobby, so that's another expense to be considered on top of whichever 'bed' I choose. Not that I'm considering a bedchair in the slightest, especially not the TFG Signature at £45, but (and excuse the really dumb question), does the leg section fold down so that it can be used as a chair, and if not (which I'm guessing is the case, doesn't look like there's room), where does the 'chair' in 'bedchair' fit in?
  14. Wow, excellent angling Andrew, can't get over the size of that last tench, gorgeous! Interesting to hear that unnatural baits (i.e. boilies, are now accepted), might have to change my plan if I'm lucky enough to be invited this year.
  15. And what a good thought too, I actually have the Energizer red LED headlamp similar to that one already! Still, my question stands, as often it is possible to see at night depending on the moon and/or cloud. The weekend will be last quarter moon, so depending on cloud and/or light pollution, it is entirely feasible to do without a torch for most activities.
  16. No need, just have carrots for every meal for the week leading up to the Fish-In. Don't you know nuffink?
  17. Hmm, only site I'm having trouble with is this one...on Firefox.
  18. What do others sleep on? Currently I'm a fish OR sleep angler, so I see no need for a bedchair, especially as my bivvy sessions are fairly infrequent at the moment. So that leaves either a camp bed or some kind of mat, and I'm thinking the self-inflating mats look ideal. Would welcome any thoughts on the matter.
  19. What with Wingham being so unpressured, and the bream density so low, is it wise to photograph captures at night with flash, and for that matter is a head torch even wise?
  20. Like Terry, I sleep OR fish, although I too might cat-nap fully dressed in my fishing chair. I have absolutely no faith that any alarm could wake me from my sleep! So for sleeping I strip off as weather dictates, which for the previous AN Predator Fish-In meant keeping everything on except my boots (warmer bag on my shopping list)!
  21. If you think commercial lake's stocking densities are high, take a look at most peoples aquariums!
  22. I've certainly seen figures quoted (usually per acre I think), but can't remember where. Steve Burke will know I'm sure. Edit: A very quick Google search and I think the Environment Agency recommend a maximum of 400lbs per acre.
  23. If I do make it to Wingham, I'm not sure about 'talk with' (which suggests I'll have some useful input!), but I'm more than happy to listen intently and take notes whilst you do the talking!
  24. No apology needed, I freely admit, and often point out, that in absolute terms (in fact in any terms at all!) I'm a novice.
  25. Congratulations Elton and Anglers' Net Team, both on an excellent site, and for attracting a better stamp of angler to the forums (myself being the exception of course!). All together now: 'For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow...........................
