  1. thanks bigfishnut and dont worry it makes perfect sense fished darenth terrapin lake today, couple of fish came out(not to me) i put a about 1/2 a kg of bolies under a near tree and saw fish jumping there all day but still nothing! the other place was about 25-30 yards out where it leveled of from about 4 1/2 to 6 ft of water put out about 10 spodfulls and fished a rod tight to the far bank but once again nothing. talked to the boys who had the fish and yes they had them out on pineapple bolies, what a surprise( dont worry you'll only understand if you have read my other post on darenth) o'well atleast i saw signs of fish this time cheers in-line
  2. hi thanks for your reply oldfellah im off for the day tomorrow and ive decided to test two methods. one with fake corn and a small bag of dusted corn and a full on carpet of bait with a trimmed bolie over the top. just hope the weather takes pity on me and i get a sign of a fish this time cheers again in-line
  3. hi all just wanted to ask a quick question about how much bait you would put in a average 24hour session. ive seen people putting in mountains of the stuff but often they wont catch much more than me, and i only use small pva bags each time i recast a rod. i know that the larger quantities of bait will attract more fish and hold them in the area but surely they wont compete in the same way and also there is a smaller chance of the fish picking up your bait in amongst the large number of other freebies? cheers in-line
  4. hi all friend of mine recently went to monks for an 24hr session on one of the very few warmer days had loads of carp and tench on strawberry bolies fished over meat (so he tells me) cheers in-line
  5. nice fish bet you wont forget that in a hurry in-line
  6. hey dan ive only really experimented with a couple of flavours the ones that seem to stand out are spicy shrimp and prawn(had 5 fish on them in about 4 hours<1 rod>) ive tried others such as spicy chicken, tutty fruity and strawberry but nun seem to do as well as the shrimp and prawn im sure loads of people will have had great catches on the ones i dont rate very highly but thats just fishing cheers in-line
  7. i had the same problem try clicking maximize/minimize works for me in-line
  8. thanks for the help i never though about the carp feeding on the bottem with my bait poped up cheers again in-line
  9. hi currently im using the new fox warrior es 2.75tc i use to have a problem with fish coming off at the net(while i was using 3lb tc nash rods) but since i have got these the problem seems to have stoped and so far i have fished about 6 session with only 1 coming off (my fault had tree above me so had to keep rod low) and at only £50 they are amazing value for money dont know why they have one more ring than other rods (doesnt affect my casting) and if your not fishing long distance it shouldnt matter. take a look cheers in-line
  10. going to sound a bit silly but ive never caught a fish on a pop-up bolie i dont think its the rig as i have research it on the internet and used exactly the same rigs as published in the angling times(am i allowed to say that?) o well never mind just have to prove my self wrong and catch a monster on a pop-up, then il be converted lol in-line
  11. hi all once again i am confused im going out on saturday just for the day and was going to try the chod rig again. ive used it before but with no result anyway i know there is alot of debrie on the bottem of this lake so i have decided to try pop-ups with small pva bags, one on a normal pop-up rig(shrink tubing, mugga hook(good hook pattern?)) and one on the chod. my question is when attaching the bolie to the ring do you just use the bait floss and tie a couple of over hand knots or is there a special knot or way of doing it? and what type of bolies would you recommend for fishing on these two rigs i currently have a tub of spicy shrimp and prawn(white ones), but have caught nothing on them i was going to buy some more but couldnt decide on whether to get the flouro pop-ups or try the fresh fish ones from dynamite i hear both of them are quite good any thoughts would be appriciated cheers in-line
  12. thank you very much for taking the time to register just to comment and thank you for sharing your success. i guess this means you just have to get the presentation and the positioning right and if the fish are up for it then they will take the bait cheers common jon
  13. cheers poledark i think a couple of fish came out overnight but none juring the day i just thought it was funny how only one type of bait worked and they just ignored the others weird
  14. hi all about 2 months ago i went to fish terrapin lake at darenth fishing complex i tried all sorts maggots, corn, halibut pellet, trimmed bolie and pop-up(spicy shrimp and prawn) i had absolutely diddly squat i decided to talk to some of the regualrs and also some of the people who work at the complex about what baits did work and they all said that almost all of the fish come out on richworth haiwain pineapple freezer bolies the two people who worked for darenth were very helpful and told me a couple of areas to try my baits but at the end of the day i still hadnt even had any liners the apparent reason for this was that the terrapins in the lake would steal your bait off the hair and so most of the time you are fishing with no hookbait. although everytime i brought my rig in i still had the bait i guess the terrapins dont go for the pineapple bolies but i found no indication that a terrapin had had a go at my hook bait either i was a bit shocked that the fish will only take one make and flavour of bolie has anyone fished terrapin lake and if so have you had any luck on any other baits appart from haiwain pineapple cheers
