  1. You will catch fish on any peg in the fishery. Obviously some pegs fish better than others, but the problem is that in the summer bait is going in on all the pegs so the fish are spread through out the fishery. In the winter because sometimes you might get one or two people fishing the lake in aday the fish will find the only bait going in so your catches can be bigger. I have found this to be the case especially for the bigger fish.

    Grounbait

Depends on what species you are after at the time. I make all my own up from a base of brown crumb and either vitalin or bream 3000

    Help!

Try either omega or business post they will charge you about 12 quid and that will be next day delivery. Parcel force will be about 12 quid for standard 3 day service and their insurance cover is crap
  7. Yes I have used them on the river when everything else is not working and caught chub roach and even barbel with them
  8. Cheers Kev any tactics or rigs would be helpfull baring in mind i only have carp/pike gear
  9. I am going to Newquay in september. Well Peranporth to be precise and was hoping to do a bit of fishing but have no idea as to what gear, bait and tactics I would need and where to go. I have no sea gear but plenty of carp and barbel gear. Any help would be appreciated
  10. A great mix for bream is 50/50 brown crumb and vitalin (the original)Probably one of the best and cheapest ways of doing it. Vitalin is full of goodies that will attract fish
  11. I would use 8 or 10 mainline and a braided hooklength of about 8
  12. Dave I would most deffinately use 8lb line. As for the takes you do not need to strike, but there is no reason why you can't use a baitrunner if you feel that you have to. I myself would not bother, I would just make sure my rod was very close to my hand. If I can help anymore let me know

    MEAT

Put your meat through a maggot riddle to use as feed and spinkle with some fishmeal. This stops the meat sticking and flavours it. As for your hook bait cut it to your desired size and put it in a bag with some scopex or what ever flavouring you prefer and leave it in the fridge for a day or two. Alternatively freeze it and take it out as you require it. For my hookbait on hard fished waters I have been using polony as this is not as heavy as normal meat and it reacts slightly different being lighter.
  14. The method scores well and any bait on the hook will catch. Beware of the takes ,keep your hand on your rod otherwise you can say bye bye to it
  15. The funnel web gets my vote as you can put in as much or as litle as you like. The one made by Korda is excellent
  16. I'll be there but only for one day I'm afraid
  17. Badger classics do some very big bivies at about £120 and they are well made. My father in law bought one from the show which was about £80.I have borrowed it to try it and was well impressed with it. There was plenty of room for 2 people with room to spare. Have a look at their website http://www.badgerclassics.com
  18. One of the best I have found is fron Kwik Save. It is in a red round tin and cheap. Bacon grill is ok but dearer than the one from Kwik Save
  19. The thing with bream is if there is not enough feed to keep them there, they scoff what is there and move on. It sounds to me you are not putting enough feed in. The answer is to prebait over a couple of days then hopefully there will be enough feed to keep them there and when you are fishing you only need to top up what is there. I have had success with this method even on canals. There could be another solution (the fish are just not there). Hope this helps you a bit

    Help

Having just been reading this months IYCF I came across a two page spread on tying a hair rig on a spade hook. After trying to do this now for two hours with no success I have come here for a better explanation of what is printed in the mag. I just cannot see how the knot works. Please someone help. I have been using the knotless knot for my hairs for a long time now and am always willing to try something different. This may seem stupid but i am totally lost and no matter how many times i read it it just makes no sense Seph
