  1. there is a discussion going on a the moment to see if cradling or holding carp upside down is good or bad for them. you see nobody seem to know if this is doing the fish any harm in the long or short term so all help will be very much appreciated. if you do know anything on this subject then please post A:S:A:P as some anglers have admitted to doing this without knowing what the condition of the carp may be like in the short term or long term. i for one dont realy know and have never done this to any carp the scientific facts will be required. chhers for your help this is to cover the facts or carp being held upside down for short and long periods.

  8. hi mate sorry about not getting back to you but its the same old thing mate busy guiding on the river anyway menorcahas some fantastic fishing but alas the carp are thin on the ground but al is not lost.there are some what is called a depuradora this is where they clean and recycle water from the island and they use carp for the cleaning of the very large tanks some are over 2 acres so look out for these. one other sugestion is to try some of large estates when you get to know the loacls or even move there, but learn the language and they will respect and help you more than you can imagine. they are friendly islanders and go out of there way to keeep a ceratin relaxed life style.well mate hope this has helped you. cheers bye ************************************************* "have fun in the sun  mate"
  9. hi chris well mate there are some lakes but there is also a catch mate they are very hard to get permisson to fish first of asl go to the pesca deportivo behind the telefonica office in palma media ambiente is the other name they use it is off the main road from the paseo go to the cathederal and go towards arenal turn off the first main set of lights up into the town and then after the rfirst set of lights up the main street turn off right slip road tthis will take you behind the office of telefonica just ask anybody round there for media ambiente oficina the lakes are cañlled gourge blau and cuber they hold fish to mid 40s and loads of coubles fish near to the dam on cuber or behind the picnic site on gourge blau. they are big. and beautifull mate, but get permission first, or fish with some local spanish lads go and have a look they are located on the road to alcudia through soller go over the mountains the long way and they are about half an hour from soller. hope this helps all bait work and corn is the killer bait. pike and trout in there also.

    Catfish

hi martin i would have posted before but we are so busy mate. right first of all can you fish in the night time where you are going. and secondly can you use live bait. if the answer is yes to both of these questions then you are in with a better chance of catching a catfish. in some waters tined food for pets does work but for a real big moggie then live bait like small tench or crucians will wrok wonders. live roach. and rudd are very good smaller fish are better hooked through the upper partof the mouth or through the nostrils on a single hook small carp hooked in the side with two small terbles. dependant on the size of the fish for the hook size so a small 40z fish will carry two small trebles like size 1-s or 2-s and one good method to fish is to tye off to the far bank if over 100mts away dont bother under that range works well, tye off with weak line about 5lbs, or you can use the bouy rig this is a simple rig that comprises a bottle string and rocks inside a small mesh bag. find the depth then set the lenght of string or cord to the right lenght, then tye the rocks on one end then the bottle on the other so the bottle stays on the surface under slight tension ensureing the rocks are on the bottom then tye a small clip just under the bottle with a loop in the cord to attach the clip to ..from your rig tye some weak link just above the stop knot for your float and attach this to the bottle rig allowing your bait to stay in one place. this is the aim when catfishing to attract fish to the bait in distress. the catfish will attck the bait and break the weak link,. you may need a boat so ask first if this is possible. sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.
  11. cannot sem to find add pic details any advice will help here lads. i wish to add the pic of catfish from the rivber ebro.
  12. the only freshwater lakes in mallorca are in the mountains one is called gourge blau and the other is called cuber. they are near to the miltary base above soller take the road to alcudia over the mountains carp to mid 40s pike to low 20s boilie works but i have to say that you cannot actualy legaly fish them but erm well i have and they did produce some very good fish. night time is best as its dark and they cannot see you from the road apperantly. ....lol..... hope this helps elton pass this on mate sorry its a bit late,
  13. cheers hoppy and we are hopeing to get the 200lber soon mate our ever confidence rigs will do the trick like nothing you have ever seen before anglerusmaximus which part of the ebro has your cousin just moved top do you know the name of the town. i wil give you some good spots to fish if you let me know. and where to get some good bait from. well off fishing now speak soon. hope the weather is better for your fishing trips, are the cats biteing in england

  15. well chaps we have done the bussiness again with yet another record fish from the "lower ebro". in the last six months we have broken the record three times, the first fish being a massive 154.00lbs then again earlier this year with a fish of 165.00lbs last week the new record catfish which i have to say is for the lower ebro only came to john webb from england he fished with me in the boat and one friend allan smith also from england the fish weighed in at 167.00lbs and was 2.50mts long over 8ft. we do expect with this trend, that we shall be landing hopefully the big 200lber soon very soon you never know when a fish of this size can and will turn up. many thanks gary your guide for the ebro.
