  1. rolling boilies is hard work but very satisfying when you catch fish on them baits when its a big fish your are mad keen to get some more. but getting it right can be costly and hellish trying to find the right ingredients. i can only say this if you choose to do this .go ahead and make your own then get good guidance from a compnay that has excellent ingredients like proline baits i cant put the full webpage here but i can pm you . they and many others like have a superb range of dry ingredients for you to use. no harmfull rubish that the fish will have swollen intestines on and no worrys for indegestion problems for the fish. i truly wish you and anybody that ventures oput to do this . those who sucseed go on to be top anglers but thats why there are few of them out there i am luck relay relay lucky to have the best bait compnay on my side with what can only be described as the dogs gonads i will eat my undercrakers if you dont catch on what i use. and my hat as well. good luck tight lines and bent rods forever gaza on the ebro.

  6. i have this young ladys full permission its my daughter taken on my lixvus 12.0mega pixel cam from 3mts away bright day with slight shade from behind
  7. from www.carpdreamfishing.com gary sheridan photo taken on the river ebro in spain. Whilst i had the chance to take this shot and more. To set the scene. The wind has settled down and from the west comes a mass of clouds, that looked like armageden had sent. Within 10 minuets of taking this shot we were runnning for cover with a storm from the atlantic that had crossed spain. hope you enjoy (no enhacement to this picture at all) lixvus 12.0mega pixel cam digital
  8. i am off to playa de arena its one of the areas between los gigantes and port santiago on the southwest corner above los cristianos. loaded with beachcaster and two shimano exage rods. wire traces and enough end tackle to tackle most species from light gear to ton up fish. have had a lot of conflicting posts as to what i may or may not catch. there are no specific areas to try basicaly most of the areas are untouched but you will see many anglers spanish mostly fishing for there tea. now they dont usualy sit there for a long time. they will be happy to catch a few dorados sea bream and a few mullet as this is easy fishing they use 5 or more hooks wraped round brad for the mullet and worm or prwan for the dorados thats sea bream. but the serious stuff is out there, you just have to present as big bait floating or toherwise on any outcrop of rocks or jetty or even a beach with surf but be warned do not and i say this again DO NOT DO NOT go down to the bottom to land a fish the atlantic has no mercy at all. it has no feelings for your life whatsoever. and you will get rfreak waves sweep many people off the rocks so be warned. this is very very important you remember this. once saftey is a main concern then you can have a good days fishing stay close to people at all times dont think you can go off at night on your own go with a friend or within shouting distance let people know when you will be back. right has that sunk in good then bait squid worm (from the tackle shops )strips of fish and prawns are all good small sprats and small joey mackrell are even better. float fished will give you a better chance as the bottom is mostly rocky now rods beffy fr the big stuff and loaded with 50lbs line big reel i use a big pit reel with ten bearings a smaller rod for the mullet with line of 8lbs will suffice again floatfished. i forgot to mention flaotfished crabs are very good and plentyfull around the loose rocks.... boats can be hired but i have yet to try one so i will post later on upon my return this knowledge is new to me and i am happy to pass this on as there is hardly any information out there to get hold of this is a good link http://www.owltraining.com/fishing.htm this chap has fished there and has good advise for many people also http://www.owltraining.com/fishing.htm http://www.canaries-live.com/UK/sports.html there are a lot of links out there but you will have to spend some time yourselves looking further you could post here or send me an E-mail to gary@carpdreamfishing.com i will get back to you i am off on this week and will be back within ten days so lets se what the atlantic has to offer afetr my last mexico trip i gained a lot of knowledge there and have done from all my sea and freshwater trips around the world glad i can help tight lines
  9. just to add that we have now been on this forum for many years. and over this time we have now expanded into sea fishing. sea bass is one of the many species that anglers wish to catch. rays and large blue fish are abundant here on the delta region. we have a massive advantage of the delta that flows out to sea some 15 miles further than the caostline surounding the areas of tarragona in cataluña. many species can be caught here if boats are not your thing then i have many years guideing on the beaches all around the delta area. bass to high double fugures are never far away. and a large stingray is always a welcome site on the beaches. mullet to double figures with fish to 2lbs upwards more common
  10. we are based on the river ebro in spain we are also the oldest catfishing company on the river ebro delta region. we supply you with boats guides all fishing tackle all fuel licences bait and you can choose from fly fishing sea fishing or catfishing the choice is totaly yours. we make family holidays for all ages and have a multitude of ideas and fun things to entertain the younger generation we hope to hear from you and your friends to fish for the largest freshwater fish in the world the wels catfish. many thanks gary sheridan www.carpdreamfishing.com we would also like to add that we have been on this website for the last four years and have watched elton grow from strenght to strenght we wish you and all the guests visitors and regulars a merry christmas and a happy new year. lets hope 2006 brings bigger fish for everyone
  11. hi chris if you wish to send me an E-mail i will be able to help further the only thing i would like to add is the fact how well the fishing has been of late with catfish to 140+ and some superb bass hay adam you wont beleive how many we are catching down here mate i got some nice ones the other day to 3.5 kilos and one at 2.4 kios truly hope all is going wqell with the university and look forward to speaking soon. can i just add merry christmas to one and a happy new year.
  12. hi newt sorry i have not replied sooner so busy. you have got some fantastic areas to fish out there mate i may well make my way out there in the coming year. i do believe there are some very big cats on those dams is this true.
  13. there was one recent piece of evidence from greece where a 300lb + fish was well it was seen but as for the capture of this fish there was speculation flying round that the fish was actualy dead on pics and not long after the chap in question actualy confirmed the fish was dead on the pictures but swears this fish was alive.I for one do not know the truth and do not want to add to any further speculation to this fish but it is true what budgie says we honestly do not know where the bigest catfish are in the world. untill that capture is down on video. and proof, i think there may well be one or two large ones safe from the nets of the russian anglers in the volga or its tributorys. the po has some very big fish. some reports of big fish have been documented here on the ebro again with storys from police officers saying after they, have or tried to recover vehicles from the rocky areas of the ebro. as for the future of the delta it has the support of thousand no millions of bait or food for cats the influx of the mullet have risen and this has lead to the cats feeding predominatly on them pre-ocuped they gorge there way through kilos every day. this in my mind can only lead to one thing big fish. but who knows .
  14. does elton have any comments that may enlighten this situation
  15. i know mate it is a shame as some anglers dont see the affects of the whole picture most genral people dont seem to know the whole affects it is one long constant knock on affect.for the elvers. there will be a time when there are none or hardly any elvers. cheers gary
  16. newt i have the same pic as that but you cannot realy pinpoint anything on there the blueish area is the delta region above this is mainland and mountain ranges this combines for a beutifull backdrop. from this lline down to the sea is fishable for carp barbel catfish zander mullet crucian carp specimin roach and rudd this combined with the sea fish bluefish or amberjacks taking the baits gives this area the diffrence between upper regions and mid sections you can see the island of gracia in the middle of the picture some very good captures have been taken in fact we broke the lower ebro record the first time here with a fish of 154.00lbs all the swims above this area to the town of amposta have been built by me.a total of 10 as we are only allowed to buld two a year and only in wood. but to actualy get to these swims is by boat only. as access is all through private land one good local public area is where the ferries cross. dont tell me you are finaly coming to spain mate.
  17. well mate i aint no scientist on working things out well apart from catfishing sea fishing carp and so on but surely this must be put to the goverment after all they are always looking for some god reasons to say look what we have done for the country might be a good idea to get this down on paper chaps and post it off after all think of the taxes if you mention this they will pop there little ears up as fast as yu can say erm....or even see if the local army cadets want some night training ask them mate you never know. i am sure the water authroitys would be in favour of this may take some of the strain of them and it would work for fish poachers and many other things. maybe the loacl farmers could have some say in this matter gather the eveidence
  18. malevans one of the refences you made about the guides knowing when it is best to fish, or not. it makes sense but when anglers are staying on the bank they dont have a choice but to try well at least have the guide row out in 4ft waves and tye another rig to the bouy or trees.or bait the area in winds over 100mph you see just because its windy or wet you still gotta do it when you are out there doing the bussines day after day. sometimes not having a shower for three days or longer can run you down a little. but you gotta stay on top of everything and i think that for these reasons and may more to many to mention guides are a breed apart in there own field of fishing you see whatever field of fishing be it catfish, trout, pike, carp ETC you have differnt times of fishing and diffrent types this is stating the obvious but the point is the hours say what i put in. compared to lets say a trout guide or salmon guide are somewhat longer day and night as to day fishing only for the trout/salmon guide. i would go as far as to say twice as long over a weeks fishing. you gotta have the stamina and patience along with the obvoius knowledge. the teaching aspects are as inportant as the fishing they go hand in hand one without the other does not work. you have to show how and why things are done. not pushed in the face, but a subtle teaching usualy works. i would say never try to explain everything all at once wait for the questions to arrise and answer with honesty confidence and knowledge.giving the anglers the confidence they need in you. this i find eases the stress of waiting for the first bite. i always see anglers arriving with baited breath. seems like they have been holding there breath all of the time on the plane journey over . i love to see the anglers arrive with big smiles and leave with even bigger smiles on there face. NEWT with refrence to those big waves, fella you can see what the diffrence in angling. i suppose those lads love it as for me i find all aspects of whatever is thrown at me like a good school you learn from it take it back and get it all right even when the worst things are thrown right at you. you have to get it right. never mind it will soon be summer lads.
  19. here on the ebro lower region they have spawned with fry chasing all the way as far as 40 miles up river. mullet to 5lbs chewing on the algee with just one or two inches of water.i know its the med but sure the water temps are creeping further northwards i would say by the end of next week weather looks to settle and warm up a little. so expect a good result within a few days after that. try sweetcorn they love it.
  20. here in spain the numbers of licences have increased for elver fishermen. and this has lead to a massive decrease in numbers. where as 20years ago anybody could walk down to the river light up the area and sweep with large fine nets a kil0 or two for tommorows dinner now they have mabye one or two elvers in there nets and they still insist on fishing for them. oh for the lack of education they induce there own sorrows. the time has come with decreasing numbers to put a halt or decrease the numbers to control areas better to protect the elvers, eels. before this is to late. just one more thing doesnt the increase in licence fees go towards the oh so pulicated facts that extra policing will control the rivers and lake so much beter. once again folks we see they are not policing the waters on those long cold nights. sure you will see balifs on a wram sunny day strolling along pen and paper in hand. ready to give you a ticket.. maybe we should look at employong the army lads for training to cover the areas in discussion be it for elvers of carp lakes, make use of what the tax payers are paying for in your country. simple and effective to some degree. unless you disagree. pleasee let me know. 21. peter get them in the water to photo the fish on those hot sunny days. the pics will be treasured for life ah it doesnt matter if the water is cold get in there. lol
  22. somebody once said to me to do a guides job would be easy just have to go fishing and thats it. oh boy how wrong was he,after reading some not all of the replys i see a lot of truth in what has been said. and maybe some things held back, some of the nightmare cenarios, the weather how the floods can ruin a week spoil an anglers holiday with floating debris, constanly coming down river. wind, rain, snow water. all this and hardly any fish will happen at some stage. and things like the weather cannot be controlled. one specific day 36 attempts to keep the lads hapy repeatedly going to the bouy rigs just to see another tree coming down the river this is "SOUL" destroying. you see i look at clients like this they work hard some more than others. and they have to be treated all the same with respect dignity and you have to show you have pride and knowledge in any order to the clients, to give them the confidence and so they dont worry. it a hard cruel world of fishing and mother nature being the boss sometimes. you have to be prepared to some extent to have the knowledge of will happen tommorow oh forsight to that extent cannot be bought. guides are a breed apart. but you will have to agree when it all goes right what a great feeling it is, for either the old man who has caught his first big fish. or the young lad just getting dragged down the gunnels of a boat with some monster on the line. fantastic moments like this cannot be bought and they remanin with you for life.but i still dont get time to go fishing funny that isnt it.
  23. you may want to try the link i have attached as The river that runs through the reserve is crystal clear with a white sand bottom. Imagine a small river flanked by Varzea flood forest and Gallery forests still in pristine shapes with all of its great wildness still intact. The crowns of many of the hardwood trees in the Gallery forest reach heights of 300 feet and all of the species are still present. It is not uncommon to find beaches filled with the tracks of the endangered Amazon River turtles, tapir and even jaguar. Nothing could be more spectacular for an angler than the return ride to the lodge after a great day of fishing through meandering bends of this great watershed as the forest comes to life each evening. so have a good time mate http://www.amazonadventures.com/swallows.htm just copy and paste this into your browser.. happy hunting
  24. hi ridgeacre the costs were taken from an excert in the keth arthurs suoerb columm the final word but i have to say that i he must have his good knowledge fro somewhere. *********************************************** argos bite alarm enough said realy i to agree the bubble is defiantly going to burst soon I have had a thought, surely there must be law against pressured stocking of water, look at the recnt laws laid down for chickens couped up and animal right activists taking action. Now i dont want to start anything here, lets not give anybody any amunition but it has to be said. Is it cruel to overstock would you put your 200 goldfish in a tank just to make sure you got enough fish in there to make it look like a fish tank. of course not so why should people be allowed to stock so many fish maybe i have opend pandoras box on this, but if it is cruel then they should be frowned upon.what are your opions on this somewhat contreversial and pressing point. should be intresting.
  25. i see your point about the cars but you must have seen those waters that were in the past stocked with small carp be it the pound size or smaller you know the ones brown water hardly any weeds basicaly a sluury for fish at its extreme i have to say. but surely there will have to be aturning point that anglers will feel its enough like you have mentioned anglers turning to rivers. are more frequent but then again the fisherys that have stocked those small stunted (in my view) stock carp. will have to have another look at there future i to agree that the financial side of things have swung towards stocking the small lets call them slurry carp pond fish and now they have fallen behind the chaps that stocked wise and well looking to the future of angling and the future of what should be a good course fishery. I dont realy feel the carp waters with bigger fish have fallen into this trap the well manged and well educated fishery with syndicate waters have been well looked after. well most of them anyway anyway. lets just see what the future holds. ....
