  1. Hi just a quick post to let people know that I have not Disappeared just being watched regarding e mail and internet access at work. Unfortunately the Angler’s net was one of the main things that kept me sane during my stuffy underpaid Job. Now I can’t access it my days at work are right drag. I feel I am missing out on all the different topics that come up.

  4. Any comment on what to do when a fish is stuck in a weed bed ? I had one on at my local water a 49 acre pit and the fishing is hard. In some places the weed is 8ft tall and dense. I think i was lucky to get the fish on in the first place...but a little way through the fight everthing locked up....stuck in weed !! I tried to move it could not, felt like everything may break.I left it for a while with the bait runner on to see if it would move but after 10 mins it didn't. Does anyone have any tips for when this happens ? I did not really know what to do, just went with what i have read by leaving it with the baitrunner on to see if it would come out. Eventually i just heaved as much as i could and got it all moving and kept it on the move (something else i have read about) the weed broke away and i was onto the fish....alls well that ends well. Wondered what other people's experience of fish locked up in weed were ? cheers

  11. This what makes carp fishing so interesting many of these fish are fully individual !! half pound roach from the canal all look like oneanother !! i fished pond for its carp early on in the year and the carp in there all have mouths that would not look out of place on a bream !! they are like a cross between a bream's mouth and a carps mouth

  15. They did some tests in IYCF on pole rigs and the results were shocking.... FYI Drennan scored 10/10 and next up was Sensas the only thing letting them down was the fact most of the info on the packet was in French ! Other brands like Fox middy etc all scored around 7-8 out of 10 so not bad...but when you pay quite alot for a ready made rig it should be exactly that and perfect to boot ! Some of the others scored very poorly.... I read IYCF and the tests they do are excellent and very unbiased ! I now only really buy Drennan floats !!

  18. mpbdsnu weren't you at Wingham ? We had our bivvy set up there at the very end of the coarse lake... you could have had good look at it then !! shame
  19. Is that the only two man bivvy that they do ? I did not realise that it was called infinty ! My cousin got one from Hinders at a nice price and it does everything asked of it.when pegged out it does not shift in the wind..Its solid. It has a couple of velcro ties to hold the rod up straight for re-riggin and re-baiting.Which are very handy A small hole for putting leads for receivers, also has vents on the side, two interior entrances one with a fly net. gets 2 bedchairs in no problem with plenty of room.the design ,means it tapers at the rear of the bivvy and we have found this handy for getting into swims that are a bit tight and also good to store lots of stuff keeping it away from the corridor. One more feature it has is some pockets to the left and right of the entrance.great if your a smoker or need somewhere easy to find the camera for that big catch ! we have been well impressed with it and also great value. My cousin got a bargain at £115. But we did go just after xmas and had driven from london to replace a bedchair that was an xmas present that was broken. Don't know where you live but usually they have one set up in the store at Hinders.
  20. I don't think you can go wrong with Solar bobbins they do a pack with two in to get you started. i have added chunky chains and stainless ball clips just to make them a bit more robust and add some weight.I found the braided cord a bit suspect and with the chunky chain it will always allow the line to ping out no matter how tight to the clip. The Solar ones have a slot for an isotope or night light (nice to look at in the dark and good to indicate which way the fish is running) Also the Fox swingers are very versatile and excellent for pike fishing as well as carp fishing..in fact i will probably get some when i go piking later on in the year..the good thing with the Fox ones is the feature enabling you to alter the tension on the line via a sliding weight and they are also very sturdy. i have used a cork, a paper clip and a small leger weight before and that works just as well. They are my favourites that i have looked at. Good luck i'm sure you will find this site more than informative as well as unbiased regarding your questions.
