  1. Well my winter project finally arrived today, I was very nervous as I opened the packaging it was sent it as to what I ould find but it was as discussed with the guy I bought it from so nothing to fear...too much. The rod is an 11ft 3" Float rod which has no sets in it and is structurely sound, A lot lighter than I had anticipated and is well balanced with my allcocks aerial match, and as yet after some investigation I still cannot find the maker but that does not matter. It does require stripping down and restoring as you can see from the pictures I have attached but thats the fun of having a new project.....The costly sum to date with new silk already waiting.....£28. will keep you posted at times to how it goes. Thanks to my mate Gary for all the encouragement and being there if I need him for help.

Gary I use the asda smartprice bags of frozen stuff it fits neatly onto a size 16 and thats the smallest I have found after all this time, nothing to do with being a scotsman in yorkshire...lol
  3. currently in talks with a man about a rod..nudge nudge wink wink...lol
  4. looking good trigger I know you have been waiting on this one coming from talking to you some time ago, I hope you enjoy it mate
  5. Jack a cracking job and Im sure it will be as good if not better than the trudex as that was a steep learning curve for me but with the help of others I managed it
  6. Jack reading and following what your currently doing now made me dig some old photos out from over 3 years ago when I brought back to life an old trudex I bought from fleebay, pic 1 shows how it was advertised by the seller The next picture shows the state of the inside when I finally received it and had to soak it in a tub of oil to release the spool. And the final picture is how it turned out after fishing with it for a year so from what I can see from your postings if you do the same as I did then you will be as equally pleased with the result in a years time as I was keep up the good work mate.
  7. Gary, Your going the wrong way, you will be wanting a seat box and platform next...lol, Bag over the shoulder, rod in hand and away we go, you know me...lol
  8. I can only add to what the lads have said about the DRX range, I have the older DRX Logic Match models at 4.5m & 4.8m and they are the best 2 trotting rods I have had in a long time, I believe the ones I have are now discontinued and superceded by a newer range but if they are anything to go by then they will be spot on.
  9. Interesting Gary as I have just been looking at Gary Marshall's website and he has some absolute crackers on there but with no prices... PM me with what you would take money widse to build such a rod even if it was for next season. Regards George
  10. The best has still to come, the lady of the stream herself..."The Grayling"
  11. Ive been going over the idea of getting another split cane float rod, the current one was made by an old gentleman I used to fish with many many years ago and recently it was refurbished to a very high standard but I feel it is a touch on the heavy side, ok for a days trotting on small rivers but thats about it. So the question is Does anyone own a good split cane float rod which they can easily handle for a full days trotting on a river such as the tees, Ribble etc and if so what make is it or do you have any recommendations. It will be used in conjuction with what else but a pin Thanks guys
  12. lol, you know what I like Gary and it is not the modern pins happy trotting with it mate just leave the aerials alone...lol
  13. Im not totally sure tigger but If I had to do it I would take my reel to a local farm outlet called sam turners who caters for all sizes of tools from the very small to the very large, and he is excellent I have used him a few times on other matters but for over your way mate I wouldnt have a clue...sorry.
  14. Jack Im looking in with great intent as I have 2 of these reels which I bought and although the paint was better than yours its nice to see someone take care & a bit of pride in these old reels. Cant wait to see the finished article, well done you
  15. Have to agree with you tigger it looks right and the early adcocks were also done in that blue but rare. If in doubt Gary contact Ray as he will be able to help I have the number if you need it. George
  16. Nothing wrong with a leeds pin if your not wanting to spend too much or get yourself a 2nd hand trudex, rapidex or speedia from fleebay, just watch who you buy off,ALWAYS read the feedback PRIOR to purchase!
