  1. Just one afaik. The European Chub (Squalius Cephalus). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_chub Renrag
  2. Same as Dales really. I really like the simplicity and ease of use of the folding cheapo chairs. They're light too. Maybe one of them but with some adjustability built in? Possibly screw legs but maybe the extending pinlock type (like seen on crutches)? Higher back would be nice too. Plus, you can always add lightness... Renrag
  3. I do most of my shopping at ASDA... Lidl is great for cheese though! Renrag
  4. +1 on the hook. A lump the size of the end of your thumb or bigger. Don't forget breadflake too. Or lures... worms... Is there anything they don't eat? They're the fish version of me... Renrag
  5. I thought it was the largest ever returned... Renrag
  6. Like you suggested before, cater to the individual. If, like me, they want numbers over size, then the lake you describe sounds excellent. Some however, may want a 'big girl', or the chance of one anyway , in fantastic surroundings. If you can offer both, for a reasonable price, (with extras on top like boat hire, equipment hire etc) then you may find yourself onto a winner Patric. Renrag
  7. Yep, a sense of time passing goes out the window along with all the day to day cr@p and stress. Apart from that, Disgorgers mainly... Renrag
  8. Contradiction time, I've got a monkey on my back and it has collected a hundredweight of bananas now... Has anyone got any information on how to go about catching in the more tidal areas of the Broads? I won't be too specific but the waters I want to tackle are downstream of Horning, Ludham and Potter Heigham. Mainly after Pike but Perch are always welcome Average visibility obviously varies but atm, I'm faced with 12" visibility in these parts, strong current (1-3kts) and depths of up to 15' but averaging 6-12'. Before I try my luck any further, has anyone got any tips or suggestions to help me along? Anything from retrieval tips to lure selection or even PM me good locations to cut my teeth on if you're willing to share. I'm mainly using soft shads atm btw. What sort of size would/should give me a good chance and what weight jighead? Colours etc? If you think I should bother at all with them that is? I know its a big ask but after only one failed session in these conditions, I'm at a loss as how to proceed!? I know the fish may well have just not been there but even if you just confirm what I'm doing is roughly right and just to persevere, that will be a big boost for my next session. I do know there is no sure fire combination but a kick in the right direction would be fantastic for me. Renrag
  9. Have been thinking of adding a stinger myself, not that I think I'm missing any takes. I think if and when I do, it'll be a size 2 or 4 single, lightly nicked into the tail of the shad, pointing up like the main hook. Probably attached to the bend of the main hook too with a bit of slack in the wire to reduce any adverse affects on its action. Would that work you think? I just don't like trebles Too snaggy! Renrag
  10. A low and slow, sink and draw type retrieve Anderoo. Hit after the 2nd or 3rd 'draw'. Probably around a foot off the deck, just above the 'herds' of cabbages that have regenerated... Jumped the gun today, went another mile or so downstream and most importantly, downstream from the confluence of the biggest broad. 12" of visibility and quite a lot of current... I blanked... Not usually a problem for me tbh, but atm, it IS. because I don't know whether the fish were just 'off' today, or whether my technique is at fault... That sort of thing gnaws at me! Anyway, lesson learnt, need to learn to walk first eh grandpa phone... I shall bravely return to the clearer stuff to improve my technique as much as I can. Hoping to meet up with some lure nuts soon, will be interesting to see what I've learnt and if I already have some bad habits I need to correct. Renrag Btw, credit is due to the camera, not me. I just point and shoot...
  11. My first lure caught Perch! I may have overestimated its size... Is the trace ok? Renrag
  12. To be fair, I'm already fishing a tidal part but its way upstream and so has little movement and only slight colour. The more tidal parts have a strong current in parts and more importantly from my perspective, they have a lot more colour and represent a greater challenge to me mentally atm. Its just getting my head round it, thats all. FWIW, I moved a mile downstream today (it was quite coloured, about 15-16" visibility) and caught my first lure caught Perch on a 7g head/4" Phantom. Only fish today but a milestone for me nonetheless. Not weighed but fighting fit and just shy of 12". Will post the picture tomorrow sometime. Renrag
  13. Judging from your forum name Andy, I was born in the same year as yourself You don't type like you're from Glasgow mate It is weird how you get certain impressions, just from typed words. Off out again tomorrow, not sure where yet. Keep wanting to go on the more tidal parts but not sure if I'm ready yet. I don't want to knock my confidence in my lure control. I guess I'll sleep on it but deep down I think I know where I'm going... Renrag
  14. It may very well be next on the agenda... apparently there's a nice chap somewhere in France who might be willing to give a lesson... even has his own lake, the swanky git Any Pike in there? Its the new camo, Dales! You gotta get 'on it' mate! It works on the premise that first you melt the fishes eyes... Maybe thats why that last Jack hit so close in, just my lure got in the way! Might try it once my shoes are knackered actually... Renrag
  15. I can't believe how sucessful I've been. Beginners luck I'm sure. Had a 14lb10oz last Thursday too. Second biggest Pike ever! I've always had a few spinners in the box but now I'm putting some thought into it, I'm making it work. They may not be big but they're definitely fun. Even missed takes and follows are enough to satisfy the adrenaline junkie in me. Gets the old Jaws theme going in your head That last Pike took it 3 foot from the tip! I'm sure I'll return to deadbaiting on occasion but this has to be my method of choice, over anything atm. I'm just wondering how productive it'll be as it gets that much colder... Regardless, I've sat 6-8hrs, freezing my butt off and blanked whilst deadbaiting before now. The other great thing is how easy it is to just 'get up and go'. Thanks for the congrats, any more tips? Renrag
  16. Hi Faiz. Welcome to AnglersNet. Where are you based? It might help the others on here recommend some places near you. Have you ever fished? If not, maybe someone would be able to show you how. The Rod Licence is £27 for Coarse Fishing. there is also one for Game fishing. You do not need a licence for Sea Fishing. Regarding the gear, it all depends on what you wish to catch, ie Roach/Rudd/Perch (general coarse fishing) or Carp for instance, or even Sea Fishing. Maybe have a search around on AN and you might find some interesting threads that will help you to choose. I'd definitely recommend starting with a more general approach myself. Regarding your project, ask away. We'll help if we can, I'm sure. Renrag
  17. You should be able to buy any DDR400 memory sticks and they should fit. Think you should consider upgrading though as it will vastly improve its speed. Maybe 512's? Not sure what virtual memory is though. Sounds more like a hard-drive issue to me. You could try an alternative like using a 2-4 GB memory stick and setting it up for speed boost. Hopefully a PC wizard will magically appear shortly and actually know what they're talking about... Renrag
  18. No idea but the nickname for an Eel Basket sounds plausible for the Ormesby Pub at least. Its only 4 miles from me and very nice it is too! Hope to have our wedding reception there Renrag
  19. Nah, Rice... Absolutely minging places aren't they! Renrag
  20. Personal Enjoyment/Fulfilment. The 'Experience' as a whole. In no particular order. I can't refine it any more either. Renrag
  21. The length? Its 12". Is that too short? Or the fact that the Pikelet did a death roll in the Net and fooked it to Kinkydom come? Yeah, I changed it after the fish went back. Renrag
  22. Just the pics for now, will expand later on. This one I caught on Friday, caught another but no photo, was a tricky unhook and wanted to get it back in. These 2 I caught today, only little but I want to build my confidence up before tackling the more coloured and tidal parts of the broads. Renrag
  23. No reason you couldn't. Never used or seen a seafishing feeder per se, but I know several people use a mesh bag filled with fish offal etc off of my local pier for school Bass in the summer. It does bring the crabs in in numbers though, just so you're aware. Also, I know they are more prone to snagging, use a tackle lifting vane to at least reduce this on the retrieve. I would say a blockend style feeder or mesh bag is your best bet, I think a cage would empty too quickly to be effective imo. Renrag
  24. Nah, it depends on the colour... Camo ones are longer but they just don't seem as long etc... Renrag
