Its happened to me before during the winter. I thought my float lifted up a bit but decided i was mistaken. When i realled in there was teeth marks in my deadbait! I use dace as bleak as live baits now and have more luck. Dont think that you need a big bait to catch big pike. I had a 17lb on a live bleak last winter.

I am not a fan of wind. Its worst when im walking accross a flat field to get to the river and im holding a load of gear. I get blow over! Its the net bags that catch all the wind!

Them little buggers come out of nowhere! I recon if you have enuf you could use them with groundbait. It cant do any harm so why not. You never know you may find a super bagging technique!

Catching signals is perfectly legal with rod and line and they make great eating! On the other hand they are not as wide spread as you may think. If they are there, there is thousands! But if they are not there, there is none . I say we eat all the Yankee crayfish and put the white claw back on top where it should be!

The proces seem to much at badger. For example a pack of runing rigs for about £2.50 but with £3.00 VAT on top and then +P&P! So it will cost you about £6.50 for just that little item. I think Chapmanstackle.com are best!

The stretch of River Lugg i fish in Herefordshire seemed to have few trout in this year. Same with grayling. I think it may be due to the ammount of mink (or weezles) that i have seen about there this year. I had never seen one before and this summer i have seen LOADS! They are black with white patches on face and they are great swimmers. Are these mink?

They seem to be banned everywhere i fish! I just resort to spodding.

Personally i would stick float fish as you can cover a lot more water. Its easier to find the shoal this way.

I can't seem to find a company that does totaly barbless trebel hooks. Fox and a few others do semi barbed which is great for dead baiting but what happens when you want to lure fish? All my lures have barbed trebels! Ok i do close the barbs with pliers but why doesn't anybody just sell them barbless ? Im a big fan of the barbless hook.

I think the best way to look for tench is to look for boils on the water surface. You know what i mean as we have all seen those strange water disterbances before. These boils are caused by feeding tench. You see when a tench has its face in the mud looking for food the tail is pointing up near the surface. With every tail movement it makes the sufrface boil up.

First find out the depth and speed of the river. These 2 things must be know before fishing any river. A good general match river technique to just to throw out a stick float rig and let it drift along stream letting out line as it goes. Just chuck in loads of maggots and you should soon be pulling them in.

I have used catfood under a waggler before and had good luck with the carp. I put it on a hair rig though as i was worried about it comming off. I was using 2cm cubes of meat.

Its happens to us all. I have been out carping with alarms before and had similar luck. I had been drinking coffe all morning and i needed to go to the little boys room! I turned around and walked about 20 paces. As soon as i started that natural process of releaving myself an alarm went off. I ran back to find the reel backwinding like never before. I struck into her and pulled out the nice 12lb common. Then i did my fly up .

Waggler with an unusual bait. Like..... cheese paste. People underestimate bream, the biggies are real crafty!

Im not really a book person. I just bought a new vacume flask for those cold dark months!

Ocean Fresh's Neon boilies do it for me. Octopus and squid flavour (pink) in particular.
