  1. After zooming in to 400% and scanning the image i still dont see the float. I think it might be unclear on the image provided as there is low light. There seems to be something that resembles a float in a dark patch of shade creates by a tree on the far bank.
  2. im also a keeper of koi. At about 2 years of age and 15cm odd a Kohaku (red and white) koi will cost you £50! I am really after a Yamazaki Hariwake (gold and white) koi of about 35cm in my local pond centre but it costs £170. The things reach about 25lb and can cost up to £2,000 in good condition!
  3. 10 inches. Hummmm. That is about 2lb. Nice and big in other words! I caught my PB roach by mistake while fishing for tench in the margins using sweetcorn. As far as i know casters are a fab bait for roach. A size 20 hook and double caster under a waggler should do pretty well. I would fish that lake as you know there is fish in there. You wil probably have to catch a lot of smaller roach first though befor you hook a biggie.
  4. Congratulations! Yesterday i caught my new PB carp of 20lb on the surface!!!! Its the nice weather we are having. Its new PB hevan!
  5. A good braid will also make bite registration more emidiate. I notice my bite alarm keeps beeping from time to time when using braid rarther than quiet all day until a good run with mono.
  6. 10lb about 3 meters from the bank . The old PB carp was an 8lb caught on the method feeder.
  7. I just got some new PVA bags and wondered 2 things: 1) Will the juice from a tin of sweetcorn melt the bag? 2) Should i attach the bag to the hook or put the whole rig inside the bag?
  8. Thats it!!! I watched a man catching loads of carp using a surface rig which i had never seen before. After reading about this "zig rig" i now see that he was using one of these things. It had a lead at the bottom, float at the top and the hook length coming off just under the surface. Is this it? I found it hard to cast my surface controller a distance, maybe if i can find more out about this rig i will do better?
  9. ARRR! Thats not a carp rig, its an indian sex aid. Go on then explain how this funny looking thing works
  10. I have the answer. It comes in tins and is called sweetcorn . Fish the same method you used for the carp but using sweetcorn on the hook. It wins lots of matches as if you feed loads of sweetcorn into the water the carp wont eat enything else!!! Its like a child in a sweetshop!
  11. Go barbless, strike emidietly, use discorger, plum depth and float fish.
  12. Yeh Rogerb. It did take a lond time and loads of my chum mixers but after time they left. Just like when you are pestered by bleak on my local river. You have to feed them off until you catch the roach.
  13. Thats all very good advise appart from i would go for the Drennan surface controller (again as small as possible) as it is totally clear.
  14. I think next time i will take my other reel. I use it for big barble and it is spooled with 12lb. I have been fishing it for about 3 months. My friedns who have fished there said i will catch no larger that 6lb. I sue proved them wrong!
  15. As far as i knew the pond only holds carp up to 6lb. Befor today i had only ever caught carp of 4-5lb on it.
  16. I was using my browning rod (very bendy) and 4lb line. I had him in my landing net for a while to let him get his strength back befor the release.(ive got a large fox carp langing net)
  17. Today i decided to try surface carp fishing. I got some chum mixers and a drennan surface controller and set off. It took me about 2 hours to feed off the ducks but once they left the carp came in. I could see them surfacing all over the place. I was having trouble hooking them but was getting lots of bumps and nudges. Near the end of the day i saw a pair of gums come out of the water and consume my mixer. I strucking into her and she bolted, taking 20 meters of line odd! After 20 minutes she was in the net and weighed in at 10lb. Thats a new personal best as the old was 8lb. My best ever carp and caught on the surface!
  18. A quality fish. Did it fight? Every time i catch a bream they just fall asleep and i have to haul the in!
  19. I recon chub would fall for octopus. Praws seem to catch them pretty well!
  20. Exactly what i would have said. I really want to get into surface fishing but i have no bait bands. Do i need bait bands or is there another way of getting a chum mixer or floating carp pellet on the hook?
  21. Marlin and Tarpon fishing in the Dominican Republic for sure! Either that or Docklow pools in Worcestershire .
  22. Its something i would also like to be able to do in later life. At the moment i training my ghost and koi carp in the pond to eat sweetcorn! Im 16 also but im 15 if you have to pay extra for over 16s!
  23. "Free Samples" Thoes magical words that are music to my ears!
  24. lest have a look Chris. I have only ever seen them real small or real big. Use this site to get the pic up here: http://www.carndearg.net/anglersnet/php/pictures.htm
  25. You said it. It has to be the method. Try step down carp tactics for big tench. A 30g fox method feeder will do. Yeh pre baiting will help. Be prepared to catch some smaller tench first though.
