  1. Yep the bridgey right up to Manchester has been wiped out,and wat Carp did survived, died when all the water leaked out of one of the locks.I think that's why it stopt at Manchester and never spread further. So i've been told anyway. [ 17. July 2005, 08:25 PM: Message edited by: chris mc ]
  2. Personally i wouldn't use a keep net unless fishing a match, witch i haven't done in years. But i think that keep nets should be emptied every 3hrs maximum, and no barbel at all or fish over the 4lb mark be put into a keep net,but that's just my own oppion. 3. It's probably not a river like you're thinking of, it's deep and very slow moving. I find it hard to focus on starlights (I tried the other night.) After a while I can't tell if they're moving or not, which is why I normally go for a feeder with the isotopes on the quiver but it can get a bit boring. I know the pole would be the best method but was just unsure of the light spooking the fish. HB. Well good luck and let us know if the light does spoke the fish ,as i've allways thought that it would.
  4. Personally i wouldn't use a pole on a river anyway but thats just my oppion. Why don't you just get some small star lights/isotopes and put them your float? You can get Isotopes of e-bay HERE [ 30. June 2005, 07:12 PM: Message edited by: chris mc ]
  5. Probally only gets fished once a year allso.
  6. I agree with you Big G, but this diseases that’s supposedly about is meant to be very deadly, so personally I support the closer of the lakes etc, as a weekends fishing lost could be a life times fishing kept.Hopefully it will all be sorted soon.I agree some things are just over the top,but i have a feeling this one is seriouse. 7. To tell you the truth Big G, I’m really lacking in experience as far as disease are concerned.Am just passing as much info as i've been told on as i can.
  8. Agreed if they shut one River they should them all they all link to each other some how ,and some anglers fish north and south water. As far as am aware the problam only affects Tench and Carp. [ 25. June 2005, 11:12 PM: Message edited by: chris mc ]

I'd be up for this, there is a post about sturgeon on here, I could try and organise one for one on the lake I have mentioned in that post. But it wouldn't be till late August plus I don't think there is much else in there and I doubt the farmer would be happy with the riff raff on here on his land .
  11. Thanks Big g, i'm glad my time on here has helpt others .
  12. Also the old Warington Anglers web sight is useless basicall as is there new one THIS ONE THAT HAS BEEN UNDER CONSTUCTION FOR MOUNTHS
  13. " The latest information seems to point to the problem as being Spring Mortality Syndrome and not as first feared SVC.But we will have to wait for the EA to give us the all clear" That was the last bit of info that I hared of the Lym web sight but that was about a month ago. I don't think anyone knows yet. All clubs are waiting on EA test results as far as iam aware. [ 25. June 2005, 10:14 PM: Message edited by: chris mc ]
  14. Alot of the lym waters have been closed cause of the same problam(Lym Vale Bellmont estate & Whitley). But if this issue is as seriouse as it seems to look i hope they close more waters. As for Rixton, it has alot of decent tench in, there not to hard to catch but there not easy ither allso has alot of big carp(20lb),the first few pegs by the carpark seem to be the best from my own experiance. From what I can vaguely rember the fishery is called Pear Tree (or maybe pine tree fisheries in chorley) in Chorley, not 100% certain though I will ask in my local tackle shop to clarify it as the feller who owns the shop fishers it quite often.
  16. You don't spoke the fish, as you don’t cast into the area you are fishing. The easier way to do this is simple learn proper accurate casting technique like allready stated.Personally i never use a line clip or anything simmiler. But even if you are relatively accurate with casting it's not hitting exactly the same spot is it ? I could cast within a few yards of my area and build a bed of bait up that is a few yards wide. Would this be ok? Then i can save the hastle of clipping up! Thanks Even using a line clip unless fishing a vissual feature you can still cast a yard or two to the side of the area you are fishing. Use trees/tree lineings/lillys weeds /pegs anything as markers to cast to. It takes years of practise (well it did for me) so don't get to disheartened if you can't get it correct with every cast. Fav fish?

Barbel Tench Chub Grayling Carp In that order
  22. Ware of out at 4am to a local lake that has been closed all closed season. Leaveing the Rivers till Fri/Sat. Don't think the Barbel will have spawned yet Leeds, there a lot better and healthier a month or so after as well, better chance they will survive after being returned imho.
  23. Answer on a post card is HERE ,as for grimsditch this year there has been plenty of small stuff with the odd double carp showing it's.Head according to reports anyway.
