  1. is there no local club that have women anglers,i know you have to be carefull who you go with ,best of luck anyway
  2. yes it would work ,it was done on one of my locals, but surfice baits are mainly banned because of ducks swallowing baits.this still happens ,the ducks on a water near me will dive 4to5 ft for sweetcorn, you can;nt use any colourfull baits.i collect all my old bread together and mix it with wheat and barley and feed at the other side of the lake i am fishing on the bank,it mainly doese the trick.it keeps them busy for a few uninterupted fishing hours, just put a handfull every half hour
  3. when i return from a fishing trip ,the tackle goes into the house, not a shed or garage where anyone can see you.its like parking the car in the garage with the keys in.i made the loft into a bedroom for my son and use is old room as a tackle room, and put value on the house
  4. and it was put back safely, and i would love to see what it would weigh come feb/march
  5. is there any truth in a salmon fisherman catching a 34ld pike spinning in the ribble
  6. the lochs in scotland have shear drops ,because of the ice age lomand is a differant set up ,with more bays and shallows which incourages, the food ,spawning areas, the couple of times ive been up scotland ,allways the bays for me
  7. talking to my mate ,who is in spain at the moment fishing, one of the group he was with caught a silver carp, its new to me but he was told its a member of the king carp family.it was 48ld,any one else heard of them
  8. give a feeder ago with chopped worm, with a lobworm tail hookbaitl.theres not many things that swim, shouldnt refuse that.and you can allways take some of there spicey meat as a sleeper rod,if you can get some sort of honey nut ceriel and make a groundbait ,but make it the night before,so it really absorbs the water,so really pound it up as fine as you can.and if it dosent work ,you got your breaky, only joking it worked for me on the danube and in bulgaria and other little tributeries
  9. i bet it didnt take 16 years ha ha[but giving thi metherd a shot it may come sooner]
  10. just came back from a pike trip up the lakes on windy [and the name was right]a mid double came on a dead herring, then up the north end where the river comes in ,accross from ambleside,we trolled round the reef ,and then into more open water, were the fish finder found a shoal in 60 ft ,we tried what we had but now luck .so my mate who;s a fly angler also, made up a few pike flies with the fur from an old parker, with the fur from the hood.put a 2oz lead on ,and 2 pike flies made to look like the char in the water, and lowered it down, after about 5 mins ,bang,i thought pike ,then thought a bit deep ,got it to the service a ferrox,i could;nt beleive it 9.4ld.20 minutes later another 11.2ld..16 years and on a off chance,i know i was not going for that species with any intent, but that has made my year, drop shotting would work just as well,if you want to had a ferrox trout to your list
  11. look at some of the traces used by pike fly anglers, cortland do a fine one that you can knott, but i dont know how long it would last with a big pike,as long as it has the bait at the front and get it early enough ,shouldnt be a problem.this is were a circle hooh would be usefull size 10 or 12 lip hooked, what ever you get ,more than lightly it will be in the corner of the mouth
  12. for fishing the drop or jigging check the lures and jigheads on zestify.tv.fishing or banjo 006 fishing system ,but you get a to see the lures in action on zestify.tv,but you can get them cheaper ,on banjo 006 fishig sysyem ,mate of mine says there amazing, made for bass in the states and quality hooks
  13. the hook ,when you come down to it is the most important part of the rig.ive seen guys after breaking there tackle down, its right in there rod sleeves, but leslies of luton r selling there insight hooks ,were if you bought them at normal pricewould cost3.25,know they want a penny ,i just received 100 6s and 100 8.so you have know reason to cnange your hook,.quality hooks, this is:nt a recent buy ,thave bee selling them quit a while and sizes are becoming scarce
  14. in india you should be able to get hold of millet flour or corn meal, use this as the binder then had hookbaits or make a massive boilie
  15. if we are talking about the fish being native to the water its in,what about barbel any west flowing river with barbel in are not native to that river, barbel were introduced in the severn in the late 50s in conjunction with the angling paper of the day and the, then water authority, which then went to the wye, theme and also some say the fish in the ribble were put there ,rightly or wrongly, but still not native.like budgie said ,its fashon of the time, but 10 years down the line they see a problem its to late
  16. fair enough with roach i agree, but if you can remember that far back you will remember the dace fishing down at the m6 bridge, where have they gone, right down the gizzerd of cormorants.idont think the ribble will ever be a big roach river, but the way it is ,it as;nt a chance
  17. what is there to keep them in check,if i was a chicken farmer and foxes were eating my livelyhood,i woulb;nt have to apply to the goverment or put inflateable scarecrows up,you would blow them away.at sea they have predetors, that eat there eggs and chicks .but fresh water fish have not got the space like sea fish to escape, they may be in a river pool 7ft deep by 30 sq yards what chance have they got.thats whats the worlds coming to,just because it makes a success, dos;nt mean it should stay.if you owned your own fishery and 40 breading birds where nesting near, and eating your lively hood ,you wont be mellow then
  18. where you in grange hill, you look like him
  19. the close season doesnt help, when i walk the ribble in spring you see them every hundred yards, put bums on the bank and there numbers are kept down, when a fully grown bird eats 4to5pd of fish a day ,a fishery in fresh water cant sustain that loss.at least a otter catches and kills its prey, not leaving them with gapeing woonds, and have terrotorys maybe upto a mile appart ,they belong at sea were they evolved as sea birds, next spring mr lock,mr stock and the heavy smoking barrel brothers will be coming.same applies to mink ,yanky crayfish and grey squirrels
  20. besides my useual bits and bobs, blended vitalin and a tin of tin of tuna in oil or brine in winter
  21. what are fishing for and where ,lake or river, but a tin of tuna in oil and blended vitalin are allways part of my carp method mix
  22. will the record ever go ,went on a stretch of leeds to liverpool, where you could allways get nearlly a double bag of roach and perch with the odd skimmer, but every roach i got looked a bit dodgy, better fight than a skimmer. but still
  23. when i mentioned taking a few rod lenghts off i was taking ledgering, carping, were a short coated is used i do take at least a rod lengh off, when on top,and ive had runs on the ribble off barbel ,were youcan find abrasion marks 2to3 rod lenghts,, up,why take the risk, and trotting with braid ,it only seems to touch a rock ,with a powerfil fish on and its gone ,ive used it on previose occations ,on differant waters, but not the ribble.thats just me
