In the last 3 years i have never had my licence checked ..... Is it worth buying one My answer is YES .... i would rather have one than get a £1000 fine for the sake of the cost of a licence and trip to the post office. I also agree that the people who own or run fisheries should ask for your licence they are quick enough to relieve you of your money to fish there..... maybe there could be some way that they could also benefit from the revenue that is collected ...... or even some of the money the angler is fined could go towards them, im sure if they had an incentive to check they would soon comform.....

Hi all im looking for new venues to fish this season any information would be helpful ..... baits , tactics etc ..... and if venue is suitable for both rod and pole fishing .... and the cost of a day ticket would be helpful as well many thanks

I recently purchase a Shakespear Carp Rod (contender) for less than £50. Altought i have not used it as yet im sure it will cope with double figure carp. Remember its not just about the rod but the way you play them. if you give the rod too mush to do it may let you down. I got mine from Kirkgate Anglers in Leeds.

There is beginners luck but i also believe that you can either be a natural talent or that you can become better just through the learning process (watching others , reading up or through experience or learning by your mistakes. Even just by trying something different). what ever is your angle just keep at it. some you win some you lose, remember you can not win everytime. thats my thoughts anyway ...... tight lines BOB

i cant see it ever changing ... there will always be those who really dont give a damn. early this year i was fishing the Leeds/liverpool canal when some youngster started fishing near me, they had all the wrong kit 12lb line No10 hooks etc, i helped them out with lighter line smaller hooks etc as they packed up to leave there was loads of empty crisp packs etc so i asked them to take it with them and put it in the bin which they did... they also took my Zippo lighter. So although i didnt mind helping out it cost me at the end of the day. thats life !!

i tend to wash my nets out in the bath. i leave them to soak for 10/20 mins. then i put fresh water in with a little bit of smelly detegeant give them a good rub then hoze them down with the shower head shake them outside then hang them....

Would this site consider putting a Chat Room on the site as well. Im not saying this is not a good site because it is, but i wonder if a chat room as well as the forum would be an idea that could be added. I for one would use it ...... WOuld anyone else ?

you are right that those who commit this type of crime should be punished ...... but to put them in jail would be pointless apart from the prison system over here being full (72000 at present and predicted to be 74000 + by May next year). I believe that the best form of punishment for those would be A) a very heavy Fine. confiscate their passport. c)Community Service Community Service could be something like clearing & weeding all the local rivers and canal tow paths and verges for a period of two years every weekend. thats my thoughts on the subject BOB

Willows is at Hessay - near York its about 25 to 30 mins drive from leeds so it depends how much time you have on your hands there are however some more local places such as Yeadon Tarn (near leeds / bradford airport). also there is a place called Crystal Spring Farm which is on Gelder road on the way to birstall although only a small pond there are some decent fish it there ( carp to 20lb chub, tench, golden orf,plenty of roach (carp there are hard to get into) if you want carp then Yeadon Tarn will proberly be your best bet (beware it gets really windy up there so fish on the side where the concrete jetty is as the housing gives you a wind break.

recently i went to Tollerton Fisheries with my mate martin and his son. after looking around we dcided to fish it. On the way back to the car we met the owner who promptly relieved us of £6 each giving us a warning not to leave any poles in unattended as the carp are big. As usual martins son was tangled up so up gets martin to help. About 30 seconds later there was Martins brand new pole swimming across the pond. I wanted to help but it was too far out plus i could'nt help for laughing. would he learn NOPE it happened again the same day but i managed to get to it before his pole took its second swim of the day.

hi all has anyone fished the willows pond on the A19 lately. If you have how did you get on. last time i was there was about 5/6 weeks ago where i bagged 27lb of carp on the big lake (peg 55)
