  2. so there you go i was right , now in you get and don't forget your towel
  3. there's not really anyway of measuring weed depth due to the fact how weed can change from one day to another ie, growth, carp feeding in it clearing areas , leads being dragged through it breaking it up , and by the time you've sussed all this out with casting and re-casting you've either scarred all the fish from your area or its time to pack up and go home , although you could try snorkel and flippers or get a sonar on that boat of yours and cut all that faffing about and get some fishing done or just pva sock or bag and get it in the weed as fish do feed in these places during the day as they feel safe in the weed see you soon
  4. does anyone know how much the rod licences will be this time round ? how much are they going to rob us this tme

  8. this was quite funny because there were four of us doing the night so it was all out to catch something , anyway we all wanted to fish the island so we came up with this , trouble was no one had a pump so we had to do it by mouth , and i forgot to mention that we had all been on the beer the night before so after about one and a half hours later the boat was ready ( no one dared smoke near it cause of the alchol content ) so i got in the boat then realised no paddle  so my brother went to his van and guess wot came back with a shovel well we hadn't gone this far , so loaded the gas filled dingy up with 6 rigs and paddled out dropping all the baits out where the lads wanted them , on the way back they all decided to test there accuracy out by having a game of battle ships with me  and with their flirts loaded with boilies began to fire

  11. now i don,t know how true this is but i was told about one method of fishin in the lillies is to tie up to a dozen stop knots up your line spaced apart say 10" and when the carp screams of the knots act like a saw cuttin through the lillies as anyone eles heard about this idea ? or could it be a wind up?

    Worms

how do, you could try putting 3-5 worms on a size 4-6 hook and using the hair thread a cork ball on to pop them just of the bottom so they can't bury themselves into the silt , i like this method good luck
  16. much appreciated if you would let me have one as well Nick thanks
  17. hi coach, the last time i fished st johns i did 3 nights back in 2001 , anyway i tried all methods to catch but nothing , 1/2 way through the 2nd day two lads set up one bang next to me and the other set up the other side of the trees this is just as you walk through the gate , i watched the lad next to me set up, he cast 2 rods to the gravelbar that runs in a diagonal line from the lefthand corner to the corner of the gravel works and on the 3rd rod he put a piece of luncheon meat on and dropped it right under his rod tip then went of to chat with his mate 5 pegs up , about 15mins past and i noticed his swinger shoot up and line started to strip i ran up to this lad and told him , we went to his rods and he picked the rod up and struck he said "oh theres nothing on " so he started to wind in, he was winding for quite a while so i said to him "well you only dropped it here " then bang his rod tip bent over , it was there alright when we got it on the bank it weighed 31/lb -4 oz lucky git he hadent even switch his alarms on    so don't count the margins out good luck

  21. hello all ,the method i like to use for surface fishing is the floating method feeder , loaded with 3-4oz of method mix ie: salmon-crumb, hemp, corn, maggots ..... and so on what ever you like really , it will cast as far as the eye can see , atached underneath i'll use 4-6" of e.s.p size 10-12 nash phang hook and a nice juicy fat lob worm ,if you can get it in a shoul the fish will go nuts for it . i used this method to great affect banking 22 carp in one weekend it was brilliant nothing big mainly lower doubles 10's -16lbs but all the same it was good fun
