  1. Any pole is suitable for silver fish...depends what elastic you put in.
  2. H Doley Pole at 8-9 mtrs, expander pellet, corn, casters, all score well, try a bit of Scopex on the pellets they seem to like that.Should be looking for carp, chub, barbel. 40 to 50 lb net to be in with a chance.

  4. Hi Mally, If you get a chance give Hole Hird Tarn a go excellent fishing, had some really good bags of mixed fish there, depending on which peg you fish depends on the type of fish you catch. Some thumping great roach in there on the caster. If you want the carp fish at least 10lb main line, full of lillies, lovely setting and really peaceful, nice place.

  10. OOOOOOOOOO does your ed in dont it
  11. A similar thing happened to me a few years ago while fishing the local canal. Sat there minding my own business out in the country a long way from any civilisation when a "gentleman"..(lol)...walking two springer spanials passed me and commented "fishing...ha a barbaric sport". When I replied Pardon, he went on to state the pain and suffering I was putting the fish through by snatching a hook through there lip. After a hot and volatile reply from me  he stepped back. I then asked him if it caused pain and suffering to the dogs by cutting there tails off, and was this a barbaric act The reply came "they are working dogs and its for there own good" After I threatened to eff im in he made haste down the tow path at a very fast rate never to be seen again, stopping every so far to shout abuse back at me. Is'nt that just typical of the hypocritical b'stards.
  12. Hi Peter With regards to your second question,If fish are to be classed as wildlife and there habitat protected, would this not be bullets to fire for the Anti's.....I.E.fishing in a protected area. Don't get me wrong I'm all for what you said, its just a thought in the back of my mind that they would pick up on something like that and try to use it against us.
  13. Hi Terry, You dont say if its a still water or river. Assuming its a lake then take some time out to plumb up and find a good flat spot to fish. When you've located this, clip the line up on the line clip so you know you are casting the same distance each time, pick out a far bank marker for the direction and start to bait up,depending on the size of the feeder, put out approx 8 - 10 casts with the feeder full and then put on your hooklength, anything up to a 5 ft length for Bream.Get your casting accurate and you wont go far wrong.Consistancy with distance and direction is what you should be aiming for, keep the swim going by casting every 10 mins. Hope this helps.
  14. Hi Tyke, You dont say what size elastic is in the Section. If the no1 section is cut back far enough try a brass welding rod, push the rod down the section and gently tap the bung out,be carefull not to split the tip though, when you elasticate a section allways make sure you can retrieve the bung in some way.
  15. Ian use .1gm per foot of water, that way you wont be far off.
  16. Depending on the make of elastic, instructions and recommendations are normally on the back of the packet.
  17. Dont put any in just put a couple or three on the hook and bury them inside the groundbait. That way your hook bait is the only thing moving down there.

    corn

Danny,Bob, When your fishing the Corn how much loose feed are you putting in..??? Through the winter matches at Makins we've been having 50,60,70+lb bags of fish taken on just 2 pieces of corn fished on a running bomb. If your over doing it on the loose feed this may be your problem.Start off with just 5 or 6 pieces and fish single on the hook, hard on the bottom, anything up to 12 in, if you start missing bites shallow up a touch at a time, till you hit them. When you start to catch build your swim up slowly. With the Tench showing now you should be catching on the corn. But be patient,
  19. Hi Bradford, Was in contact with a fellow from Carpvale Fisheries in York.Has plenty of fish, not sure of the address though see what I can do for you 2 night.
  20. Also Danny with the water being so deep it might be worth trying the waggler up in the water.Start at mid depth and play around till you find what depth there at.
  21. Hi Danny Been fishing a few matches recently and been catching on a single piece of corn on a straight running lead. Not been doing to bad either. Dont worry about the tip, use the 2 oz, they'll rip the rod off the rest when they take it.Had some good results on hair rigged cat meat as well, give it a try.
  22. Tomo as Zappa said its better to Elasticate it as you do a Pole, especially if its for the kids,They dont want to be messing about with flick tip.
  23. Try the outdoor world shops, ski wear hiking gear Gortex suits are in the Sales at the moment in the ski wear and not all bright colours.Just purchased a 2 piece suit, Gortex, dark blue, £120 complete,Bargain.
  24. Hi Jon, Dont use any water with liquidised bread, its not needed, just take a little pinch between the finger and thumb, thats all you need to use to start off.Regarding bread punches,( better to invest in some cheap ones)but take a biro remove the refill and use the small end to punch out the bread, you may struggle a bit to hook it but it will work, for your hook bait take a slice of bread remove the crust and place in the microwave for 20 seconds, roll flat with a rolling pin/bottle and its ready for use, stays on the hook better this way, cut it into quarters and keep in a plastic bag, take out and use one piece at a time, so it doesnt dry out.
