  1. I'm not an ANMC member (yet) - I've only recently found these forums, but I have been on a few of the IAC Grayling trips, I believe they go to the same stretch of the Kennet! Mat
  2. When I say I'm too young to have fished with Cane I'm 32 and have been fishing for about 20 years ;-) but I live in Southend, Essex if there are any local cane users! I tried a centrepin a few years back, after an angling youth of believing that the newest and most expensive tackle was best, and it opened my eyes somewhat, although I now use a pin for almost all my fishing, and it seems a good idea to try out my trudex and speedia on the cane rods they were probably designed for.
  3. Just out of interest, as someone who is too young to have fished with cane but fancies giving it a go, how much would a good useable Mk IV Avon sell for ?
  4. well a follow up to my previous post Despite having cashed my cheque on 25/3 my badger chair failed to arrive, so I sent an email chasing it up, to be told that it was out of stock, and had been placed on back order and will be despatched early in May ! not very impressed that they didn't bother to tell me about this, I had to chase them to find out!
  5. I caught one a couple of weeks ago at Glouscester park in Basildon, first one I've seen for several years !
  6. Just had a quick look at that site, and I notice that they are charging VAT on the P&P charge ! is that normal ? check the mail order form, they tell you to add P&P to the basic price of the reel, then add 17.5% VAT to the subtotal ! seems a little dodgy to me !
  7. Elton - Getting ISDN right now could be a very bad idea, as you'll be tied into a year long contract with them BT are about to start a trial of a product the are calling "mid band" which is based on ISDN, but will be priced around the same level as basic broadband products (£20-£25) a month http://www.adslguide.org.uk/newsarchive.asp?item=1032 for more details
  8. I've just ordered a chair from them, I'll reply when it arrives! They cashed my cheque of 25/3 so it should be pretty soon now
  9. My leeds has the same problem, the reel seat is so big it doesn't fit into the smaller screw-winch type fittings found on a lot of modern match rods - such as the new browning match-carp. had to use my trudex with it instead ;-)
  10. Well Devon Angling are currently out of stock of BJ ' pins - but I'm waiting till next month and paying £167 ;-) M
  11. Hi Peter, I fished Glouster Park for the first time last week and managed a resounding blank ! any chance of a few hints to get me started ;-) I'd really like to have a go for some of the tench I'm told are in there Cheers Mat
  12. I've asked the same about my local park lakes, the only reply I've had so far is that "the Council insist on it" shame really as one of them is a short walk from home and holds some really nice tench, so would be ideal for before work sessions now the weather is warming up ! Mat
  13. I'd go for a leeds over an old trudex etc, I've had and used a leeds for several years, and apart from one bearing seizing up (which was my fault, I put it away coated in sweetcorn juice) it's been very reliable. I recently bought an old trudex from ebay, and to be honest rate the leeds over the trudex for both trotting and margin fishing. You can buy the leeds direct from the makers at www.center-pin-fishing-reels.com/pa...hing-reels.html (sorry don't know how to make it a clickable link) Prices start at £39.95 I've decided it's time for a big boys pin though and placed an order for a Youngs Bob James with Devon Angling this morning <G> Mat
  14. Has anyone actually ordered from Devon Angling ? Whats the service / delivery times like ? Those prices on the centrepins look very tempting !!! Mat
