  4. I was in decathlon yesterday and I had a look at some whips there...I now have more questions? The ones I looked at were telescopic..so obviusly you can't take off sections when your playing fish...Does this mean a 5m whip needs 5m of line attaching to it and 3m whips need 3m of line ect? quote: When starting out I would reccomend getting a good quality(take apart as opposed to fully telescopic) whipp of around 6m.Preferably one which extensions are available for.Sadly no longer available (but you see second hand and on Ebay etc) but one I would reccomend is the LEEDA Blue Diamond Arborella system. that would explain the qoute above as well. If this is the case does it mean the presentation is not as good as a pole? the leeda system certainly sounds like an interesting purchase. (bought some new pike gear by the way when there...broadening my horizons )
  5. my best purchase has to be my shimano 4000 sahara gte reel, I was so pleased with it, I bought the company... ....oh no wrong product lol...no actually I was so pleased with it I bought another for my fishing friend becuase shes strapped for cash. further more buying that reel for myself ment that Icould pass my old reel on to my brother along with other spare stuff I had, to give him a homemade starters kit....now thats what I call a good buy

  9. I'm thinking of prebaiting a swim for bank holiday monday...I've a a few questions I'm afraid, having never done it before. Is it to early in the yr to do it? (I'm worried I may feed them all up). how much should I use each day? should I prebait every day starting from friday?(tomorrow) And does it really pay any dividends? The water I intend to fish is a natural pond, weedy in the summer but I'm guessing it'll ok at the moment, apparently tench, bream, perch, roach and pike reside there (no carp). And its hard to fish (word of mouth and personal experience)
  10. I know I have read some time back that what the fish see out of the water appears as silhoette. because of course from the water you have to look "up" into the sky so anything against the brightness of the sky appears in silhoette form. quote: If it made a difference then Jan Porter would have had a pretty crap match career! Absolutly ...jan was telling of his wonderful early yrs at the n.e.c, and about how he won his matches and about how his "red" t-shirt was tactical because it annoyed the other anglers...So I was quite bemused when he went on to plug the benefits of camo. IMO camo is just a money making gimmick. Do you think the fish are going to look up into the sky and not see your silhoette looming over them because the camo has somehow made you invisable. [ 08. 20. quote: want to make sweetcorn taste like strawberry...why not just use a strawberry quote: I have always used Turmeric on my maggots must admit using tumeric on its own as a hookbait would be difficult
  21. like a bolt of lightening at work the other day a though struck me "weetabix". I know it binds really well (ever tried to remove it from the bowl once its dried?) So I reckon it'd be a great additive in homemade ground bait for balling in the stuff so it reaches the bottom. Anone ever tried it ? and do the fish like it? Also anyone ever tried any other cereals as hookbait, rice crispies or such like? [ 05. April 2004, 05:55 PM: Message edited by: frodo_uk ]
  22. I like maggot flavour for maggots and worm flavour for worm and sweetcorn flavour for sweetcorn.... these baits seem most popular with the fish so I guess the fish like it ...want to make sweetcorn taste like strawberry...why not just use a strawberry
  23. how strange, I can handle maggots all day long and push a hook through there little bottoms. But that maggots on an amputee pic really turned my stomach
