  1. I have a RAM camera base that I can setup on my ball mounts. Trouble is I have yet to use it cos I'm always in a hurry and never take the take the time to use it... doh
  2. Hi Richie, I have a Prowler 13 Angler and I fish out of Aberdeen. I've had my kids out in it when its been flat as a witches flat thing, no problem at all. Just sitting in my lap as they didn't want to fish so it was just a paddle around the harbour, at Cove. My kids were 7 and 9 when I did this, one a time I hasten to add.
  3. Don't forget the setup is so much ligheter than what you use in a boat, including the trip, so it is much easier to pull out. I carry a small wooden preist and use that to pull for breaks with the braid I use on my reels, a few turns around that is all it takes. The same applies with the anchor line. I have no problem handling the 65Kg dacron whch is about 1mm, although I prefer to use the 110Kg when I can at about 1.5mm. I prefer the thinner line when there is good tide run as well, less drag.
  4. I think neprene waders with a good semi-dry cag over the top is OK in summer, I've done it myself, but not in winter as you really want to keep dry then. I use neoprene socks with my semi-dry trousers and I find that although the latex ankle seals appear to give a good seal I still end up with wet feet. What happens is that water still manages to wick up the outside of the neoprene, its a bit like a sponge after all. The same would happen with waders only more so as it isn't a latex seal especially if you were in the water. However, wearing a sem-dry cag over semi-dry trousers is much better, it is what they are designed to work with, and sock foot breathable waders are very similar. I have a pair myself, and have used them with suitable warm layers underneath and had no problems..... apart from they are starting to leak at the seams now even though they are only 2 years old Note to self ..... don't buy Ron Thompson next time. I will be buying either a full dry suit or palm sock foot semi-dry trousers with relief zip to replace them. Don't take chances in winter, if your budget can't affort the right gear for winter then wait till next spring. After all, what price is your life worth?
  5. No. It will be taking a higher current running at the lower voltage so it will drain the battery quicker. A 7amp battery is 7amp/hrs regardless of voltage. The 12v battery will last longer running the pump at 12v than the 6v running at the pump at 6v as the higher voltage is a lower current and the 7amp/hrs will last longer.
  6. Flotation suits may keep you alive if you end up in the water but as they do not seal around the neck , ankles or wrists you could end up getting very cold without even going for a dip. A dry suit with suitable layers underneath will always be better. I had thought of wearing my floatie jacket over my semi-dry trousers and cag combo, but as I already wear a decent amount of fleece layers my biggest problem at the moment in winter is cold feet. A floatie won't help that at all, so I want a dry suit for the dry feet
  7. I got Climax Dacron from here: Kite Lines I use 200m of teh 65Kg on a spool in deep water and 100m of 110kg on a handwinder in shallow water, as its nicer to handle.
  8. Its not just the water temperature you have to worry about either, I was out last winter when the air temp was -8degC
  9. Cut whole fillets and then slice them into inch wide strips. Dip in egg and breadcrumb then deep fry till golden. They are like scampi. Personally I love them dipped in a sweet thai chilli sauce and served with a rocket salad.

I would, but not your traditional 12oz lump of chrome. I use 3oz and 4oz prirks on the end of hokkais or paternosters with eells, shrimps or other lures. I'll be in 60-80ft of water fishing over reefs. Baiting the lures helps, fish, mussels and squid are all effective. Cheers Paul
  13. Thanks Chris We should try and get out some for some cod sometime soon, before the weather gets too bad. Norrie was telling me he met you on a charter out of Arbroath? Cheers Paul
  14. I haven't tried one yet but the 4pc Mike Ladle rod from Veals sounds just the thing.
  15. It dpends on where and how I am fishing and is nothing to do with being on a kayak really. I use anything from 1oz to 1-1/2lb!
  16. LOL.... Don't think I want to be sat in a kayak wielding an electric drill What I need is a large, big enough for 200m of 65kg dacron, old, cheap enough to throw away, sidecast reel, mechanical simplicity........... any offers?
  17. Love to Davy, but the kids have other plans..... Have you got the tag no and measurements? I'd like to include the details in the write up.
