  1. Geoff Hoon said on TV this morning that although he knew about the 45 minute deployment referred to battlefield weapons, whilst Tony Blair thought it was WMD, he said it was NOT AN ISSUE AT THE TIME. Did he not think to put Blair straight, there and then? How long did Hoon leave it before telling him? What's the hidden agenda here?
  2. Guys, Thanks very much for the tips and info. I'll be out giving it a go in the coming months. Cheers.....Terry
  3. The local mixed fishery I use, sees carp feeding off the surface during the warmer months. Being a returnee to angling after many years layoff, I just wondered what sort of kit is best suited to this type of fishing. I guess baits would be floating pellet or dog biscuit, but I'm not sure how to present it, or the best type of rod to use. The carp seem to be up to the 10lb mark. I've a standard 12ft match rod, a medium feeder rod, and a 2.5lb TC carp rod. Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated!

    Smoking

Well its nice to know there are plenty of allies in the camp. I've smoked most of my adult life, apart from four years or so from when my daugher was first born. I took it up again when going through a divorce, strangley enough when my daughter was about 4 years old! It was her who prompted me to pack it up again recently, when at the tender age of 11 years old she said to me; "Dad, if you stop smoking now, you'll live long enough to see your grandchildren"!! Cheers.....Terry

    Smoking

Hi guys, thanks for the input. Theres food for thought there. Yoxer, you're a bad influence, but I like your style! Terry
  6. Haven't smoked a cigarette since 10 Jan this year. So far have managed to do without a fag during various sessions down my local, after the odd sh#t day at work, after every meal, or when finding a puddle of water inside the car and the garage couldn't fix it. The big test though is when I'm sitting on the bank side, keeping an eye on my float or quivertip, for hours at a time. That was when I enjoyed a cigarette for pleasure, not neccesity. Any tips on how to combat the 'what do I do with my hands' syndrome, as I'm due a trip this weekend? Thanks..........Terry
  7. The other thing that gets my gander up is those adverts where they stop 'people' in the street and ask them if they've tried the 'latest' product. "Have you tried this, sir?", "Madam, would you like to try one of our.....etc, etc". These so called 'people off the streets' are so obviously fully paid up members of Equity. Do these ad-men (or women) think we are half-wits or something? Is this supposed to get us racing up the local shops, just because Mrs 'So-and-so from RADA' buys it every week? Must go, I've just seen a red phone on wheels and thrown the remote at the telly. Terry
  8. Anyone noticed how commercial breaks seem to get longer and longer these days. Not content with showing us images of products I'm not likely to buy, but you have to sit through previews of up and coming programs which I'm not likely to watch either. Maybe it's because I don't watch too much telly these days, or I'm just getting old. Anyway, off to watch 'CSI' now.......... Terry
  9. Wordbender, looks like you're spot-on..... Laws of Motion Cheers.....Terry
  10. Quote from Yoxer: Quite right Terry ,anyone can express their opinion. "but I always fail to understand why others are not willing to accept this" For others to accept their opinion it needs to be justified. Yoxer, why does an opinion need to be justified, to be accepted by others. My point was that we should be able to accept that others have an opinion, whether we agree with it or not. Only if we choose to influence someone else's opinion, do we then have to justify it, with reasoned arguement. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that what your saying (...please dont accuse me of putting words in your mouth, its not my style) ?? Terry
  11. Comment from Yoxer: I couldnt care two figs for Georges situation Nugg and will accept anyones point of view if they can back it up with something other than ignorance and bigoted coments Seems to me that anyone can hold a point of view or an opinion on a subject, but I always fail to understand why others are not willing to accept this. An opinion is someones viewpoint on a subject, based on what they read, see or hear. If this differs from someone elses opinion on the same subject, then so be it. I never feel the need to back-up or substantiate my opinion just because someone may disagree with it. Its my opinion rightly, or wrongly. When it comes to choosing whether a person does or does not get the right to a liver transplant, then I should imagine there are few, if any, in a position to make that decision on this forum. That being said, anyone on this forum is entitled to their opinion on who does and does not get a new liver, based on their own thoughts, and should not be judged because it may differ from your own. Finished now..........Terry

  18. Bulster, I bought one of the Dragon Pump-up trollies back in June, and have used it ever since. I carry my chair (carp chair as I like to be comfortable), large holdall and stink bag on it with just a couple of bungees. I wouldn't do without now, as it's pretty stable and doesn't rock side to side when pulling it. Mine came with a carry bag (which was just a very large keepnet bag really), but it keeps the mud of the floor of the car boot. One piece of advice if you do go for it; take the washer out from between the frame and the handle, and put it between the handle and the tightening knob. It makes the handle more rigid when towing the trolly along. Hope this is of use. Cheers.............Terry
  19. Personally I think you can make your chosen sport (angling in this particular case), as cheap or expensive as you want. There seems to be a wide range of choice when it comes to good quality rods, reels and tackle, to be had at reasonable prices if you hunt around a bit. With regards baits, most of your traditional, no-nonsense baits like sweetcorn, maggot, worm, etc aren't that expensive, and can be kept for weeks at at time. I recently returned to fishing after some years away from the sport and was surprised how wide ranging the choice and prices were. After some initial outlay, I'm now set up for the next few seasons, and will only really be forking out for small items of tackle (hooks, mono, etc) and your 'normal' baits. That's my opinion anyway. Cheers............Terry
  20. Thanks Alan, I stand corrected...... Terry

  22. Still no answer then? I seem to remember Ferret saying this quiz was on another forum, well I reckon the quizmaster has made a c#ck-up, and won't give us the proper answer for fear of a lynching. That, or he's keeping everyone on tenterhooks........ Terry
