  1. Have a good 'un PD, don't have too many shereberts!!!
  2. What happened to your Essex website mate? Tratty Dec 3 2004, 02:47 PM Post #1 Junior Member Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: 2-December 04 Member No.: 5,831 Essex-Fishing.co.uk is the newest website dedicated to angling in Essex. we are a lively community dedicated to making fishing as much fun as humanly possible. Whether its advice from our forum experts, encouragement from our hundreds of members, or to meet friendly people to go fishing with we aim to have it all here. www.essex-fishing.co.uk It's a fair distance from Yorkshire! I tried clicking on the link to the Essex site but nowt doing, has it closed already? Where are you from? Yorkshire or Essex? Bit of a commute either way isn't it?
  3. I'm sorry but my manliness would not allow me to answer some of the questions, especially the one asking what clothes you are likely to wear and then gave choices of various dresses, blouses etc. Felt I should have crushed a beer can in my hand after browsing.
  4. If this has been done to death already then I apologise. I was on the sexy name thread and tried to get the picture on to my thread with no success. I copied the url, went onto insert hyperlink on my thread and pasted it on the page. On previewing, no picture seen just the address. I'm probably doing something wrong which can be done stupidly simply. Any assistance gratefully received!
  5. No, it's not one of those Paula. It just looks like a piece of black material tied to the underside of the car at the back. Just seems strange, I've not seen them on any other cars. Every car I have seen sporting the ribbon has been driven by an Asian. Maybe some religious significance or protest?
  6. The taxi drivers round here drive without seatbelts. I don't hink for one minute it's due to the constant getting in and out of the vehicle because they never get out of the drivers seat. They just pull up outside the address and if nobody dashes out they just sit and blast their horn till someone arrives. I suppose the only time they get out of their seat is to chase someone when they do a runner!!! The vast majority of taxis are driven by maniac Asians round here who seem to do whatever they want on the roads. They drive in bus lanes, go through no entry signs, ignore no right turn signs, double park....I could go on. Why don't the police clamp down on them? A lot of revenue is generated from motoring offences, they could make a fortune if they targetted taxi drivers round here. I've also noticed many taxis sporting a black ribbon type thing dangling from the exhaust pipe/rear of many taxis, can anyone throw any light onto the significance of that please?
  7. I only wish mine was true!!! Gorgeous Amorous Zillionaire
  8. Careful who you call Toady Julian! minus degrees for most of the week, must be a bit warmer today, no frozen windscreens. Raining from this afternoon, nothing substantial, just the drizzly stuff.
  9. The STi 1 man single skin also has no mesh breather panels in the roof either, an overwrap for the bivvy can be purchased also. The overwrap also has a zip up door which battens the hatches during bad weather.

    Hedgehogs?

Glad the link to Tiggywinkles proved useful Ferret. Try to keep him a permanent resident in your garden, feed him now and again as it looks like you are doing. He'll keep an eye on your garden for you in return by munching away on the horrible slugs and bugs.
  11. I understand what you mean re another tax. The part of the EA we come into contact with is the Fisheries department. There job is to oversee the welfare of the countries rivers, fish and bankside environment. They can't do the job without funding, our license money goes a long way to ensure their work is carried out effectively. Of course you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I think the license fee is a small price to pay to ensure we have a body committed to protecting the waters we fish.
  12. Sorry to disappoint you mate but I'm well beyond school age. Why should I be put into the naughty corner? It's you, by virtue of not bothering with a license who should be made an example of. Just geta license and stop gloating about not having one, that's if you really are an angler????

An alternative source of information Here
  14. I wonder if they paddled downstream and landed there. Looking at the picture it would appear there is a fence running along the riverbank. Looks a very confrontational photo though. Perhaps they were foreign exchange students who could read neither English nor Welsh!!!
  15. As Budgie suggests, crush the barbs with a pair of pliers, they should crush easily. To make a really good job of it get a small warding file and give the hook a good smoothing where the barb was.
  16. Brian, I considered going when I woke this morning. Stepping foot outside made me think otherwise. I did however spend a bit of time outside this afternoon though. I spent my time constructively washing the car. I could no longer bear to look at the general filth, grime and worse of all salt which was coating my car. No fishing but at least my car looks a lot better and the salt has been washed off it. Almost forgot, it was very cold this afternoon too. Numb fingers were the result of my afternoons activity!
  17. She's bloody welcome to them, horrid fish!!!
  18. Tigger. Firstly, anglers buy their rod license because it is against the law to fish without one! The small price paid for your license helps the Environment Agency look after the countries rivers and water courses. Improvements are made to waters, waters are stocked. With the assistance of the EA, many fishery owners improve their fisheries in turn making the whole fishing experience more pleasant. Without license revenue we would be fishing understocked and lifeless rivers. Don't forget, the EA monitor the environment too. If a factory discharges a noxious material to a waterway, the EA are rapidly at the scene to investigate and advise, they also assist a great deal in preventing further fish deaths. You are not alone when you say you don't bother buying a license, there are many others like you who feel they don't have to buy one or don't see why they should. As a warning, the EA are targetting non license holding anglers and are clamping down heavily on those they catch. Expect to have your tackle confiscated, receive a hefty fine.....oh yes, and a criminal record. I wouldn't think about threatening the bailiffs with violence or indeed carrying out your threats. You will be charged as a common criminal. Is all that worth it just for the price of a rod license? If you think it's worth the risk, go ahead, but please remember to let us know what penalty you had to pay when the EA catch up with you!!!

    Shocked

If it's a commercial carp fishery that holds regular matches, don't automatically blame the kids. Many commercial fisheries hold battered and mutilated fish, in many cases this is down to out and out match fishing unfortunately. I have witnessed many matches where anglers have the fish feeding up in the water. Often the angler can and does catch fish with unbaited hooks. The fish are hooked i the mouth, in the fins, body, in fact anywhere. What is the aim of match fishing? To catch as large a weight of fish in a set time. Careful fish handling gets put on the back shelf in matches. Many fish are dragged in, unhooked rapidly then thrown into a keep net. Is it any wonder commercial carp look a bit ragged when caught? Saying that, the weigh in after the match often makes me cringe. The net is dragged from the water and generally the fish are tumbled into the weigh sling. I have also seen the weighed fish unceremoniously tipped back into the water as quickly as possible so the next peg can be weighed. Not good fish handling in my book.
  20. I don't think anyone could class it as cheating. It's good watercraft, planning and angling knowledge research as far as I'm concerned. I often spend many hours "checking out" likely looking swims and areas without a rod and line in sight. Go ahead

    Shocked

Hi zenith, if it was caught from a commercial I can accurately visualise what the poor thing looks like. To be honest, be careful with the pictures mate, I don't think many members would appreciate manky looking fish on the forum!
  22. Nice bit of trivia Clax! Sturgeoen have to be the ugliest fish in the world, non native to these shores and completely repulsive! Eeeuugghh!!!
  23. That's fantastic Brian, many thanks. I've just checked out their website, they have stacks of gear. Unfortunately the Wychwood microfleece gear is out of stock at the moment!
  24. Could anyone tell me where I can find the 2 piece Wychwood "Sleepskin" type clothing from please? I've had a browse on the net but can't find anywhere. Cheers Gaz.
