  1. Probably not a good idea to prebait with solid balls of groundbait because if the current is as strong as you say it is then they will probably just keep rolling with the current and be miles away when it breaks down. I think hemp has to be your best bet. Ant
  2. Thanks Peggy, you have pm. A weekend that I will never forget. as mentioned earlier I did see my first Egret. Ant
  3. Hi mike, I have been fishing the teme for years and the best advice I can give you at this time of the year is to find the fish first. They are very tightly shoaled up after spawning. As for baits I have had a few fish on 11mm halibut pellet on a short hair wrapped in pellet paste. You could try what Matt Hayes called the 'timebomb rig' Just get some fishmeal groundbait and some different size mini pellets. For addad attraction mix the groundbait with halibut oil and fish it with an open ended feeder. Plug the pellets in between the groundbait. The theory is that the groundbait drifts downstream pulling the fish up and the pellets will be there waiting for them when they gat there. This has worked very well on the severn and the teme although I have yet to try it as I prefer to stalk at this time of the year. hope this helps Ant
  4. Its very similar to the helecopter rig but the top bead is set about 18" up the leader so that the lead will bury into the silt but your hooklink will slide up the leader and sit on top of the silt. If you pierce the rubber bead from the side with a baiting needle then thread it on to the leader it will not slide around but will come off if you have a crack off and a fish picks up the bait. ant
  5. I will be on the teme at about half 3 in the morning and cant wait. Good luck to all and hope you have a great start to the season. Ant
  6. I have been fishing a lake with at least 12inches of silt and have found that the chod rig has to be the best set up. Using a very short hookling of about 1-2 inches with a popped up bait of any kind. As far as baiting goes I tend to use anything with an e-regular shape. pellets, half boilies. I dont feed particle baits when fishing popups. tight lines Ant
  7. Im down at worcester and it is not raining at all at the moment. We havnt gad any real heavy showers so fingers crossed the severn should be spot on for tomorrow. You could allways give rivercall a bell in the morning if your a little worried that the river might be up.They are on 09066197744. Ant
  8. I would also like to say a big thank you to Steve,Peggy and the bailiffs. Wingham has to be the most beautiful place I have ever fished. As steve mentioned I will be taking a warmer sleeping bag next year as we were sat right in the teeth of that northerley wind all weekend. Had a fantastic weekend, only got about 1 hours sleep in 2 nights but it was great to sit out and watch the wildlife at 4 in the morning. I even saw my first Egret. AS for the fishing, I managed my pb perch of 3lb 2oz which I thought was a tench at first but was amazed to see it had stripes. Awesome fish. hopefully you can see the piccy below Great to meet a few members and hope to see you all again next year. Ant
  9. You could try one of the fake mixers. They work a treat. and they have a built in weight which flips the hook over so that the fish cant see it. Ive had fish up to nearly 15lb from very presurised fisheries. The secret is to get the fish feeding very confidently before you introduce your hookbait which could take up to half an hour or more. Ant
  10. It will be the first time I have used my bivvy, Its only a cheapy one I bought last year so If you see a green object flying across the lake give me a wave
  11. I,ll be on the Lugg at hereford or Teme at worcester fishing for barbel and chub. Been watching them spawn for the last 3 weeks and seen some monster fish so can't wait.
  12. http://www.metcheck.com/premium/fishing.as...1&locationID=25 Weather for the weekend! fingers crossed it will be dry for the BBQ. Ant
  13. Yes welcome to AN mate, I love getting up at 3 in the morning and walking around a lake. Nearly allways the first one there as there is no night fishing on my local lakes. I think it gives me the edge as the fish are still feeding and you can choose which ever swim you fancy. Often taking two or three fish before anybody else has even arrived. If it turnes out to be a very hot day then they might be the only bites you get. If its a local lake it might be worth fishing a few hours at first light, then you can go home cook the missus breaky in bed(brownie points )and go back again in the evening. Sorted!!
  14. I know!! All I have to do now is sneak it in to my mates bag while hes not looking and I wont have to make a second journey to the car
  15. I will be taking about 3kilo of vitalin, 4-5 pints of maggots, a couple of bags of frozen corn, maybe a few pints of hemp and about half a kilo of worms. Not sure if to put some pellets in yet, will have to see how much room we have in the car. Think my mate might be taking his mondeo now so we can get even more kit in.
  16. Was thinking of buying some bags of frozen corn from the supermarket. has anybody tried this cos I dont want it to float away or summut. Steve Ive just been down the garage sorting my kit and I was wondering if you could maybe grab a couple of donkeys from the nearby beach to help me carry it to my peg I think I may be getting over excited but dont want to leave anything behind only to find that I might need it. Any favourite hook patterns for worm and corn? I only ever buy barbless hooks so will have to get a few microbarbed ones. thanks
  17. Thanks mate, What rigs did you find to be the best. Was thinking of using a standard running ledger rig witha 2oz lead and a back lead. And a light waggler for the day time. Did you catch any Perch? if so on the bottem or up in the water. Thanks again
  18. As will I, As with any fishing catching a fish will be just a bonus. From the sounds of things we will be in some great surroundings with the chance of catching some huge fish. Bring it on!!!
  19. There are two of us coming in my fiesta so god knows How I am going to get all the kit in. Hi Andrew, I think it might be a good idea to use backleads, especially if you are going for the bream. It might just stop some of the line bites. If you use a heavy enough lead then you should see any indication on the bite alarm.
  20. It will be a bag full of pot noodles for me. I love these anyway and they are so simple to make. Great info steve, thanks
  21. From the sounds of it I stand a good chance of beating my perch PB. It is only 1lb 9oz at the moment. Cant wait!!!!
  22. Thanks Steve, Do you think that Vitalin will get the tench feeding. Was going to put a nice bed of this down then feed the maggots over the top. What have you found to be the best techniques for the Perch? Was thinking of fishing for them in the evening and first light with lobs under a float or popped up a few inches off the bottem on a ledger rig. Any other tips for us first timers.
  23. Was thinking of killing my maggots before we go because If its warm I dont think they will keep for too long and If theres a lot of silt/weed about then I want to know that I have bait in the swim at all times. Maybe putting some flavour in may help too. What do you think?
  24. Yes I think this should sort it. I have never liked putting my pole under the water especialy when a fish is running directly away from me as I have seen somebody lose the top 5 of there pole as the sections came apart. If the fish swims to the side then I just keep the pole low to the water so I can see exactly where the fish is at all times. Good luck Ant
