  1. Hi Spanner, As I said when you reported your fish on the IAC Sea List that is an awesome achievement and well worth the read on here too. Can I ask though, how did you maintain your balance in the fight? Also, all joking aside, were you towed very much by the fish? Regards Richard.
  2. What the!!!!???? I'll try that one again....this should include the pciture.
  3. Ok guys I'll join in the fun. That is a dam fine picture of the dragon fly by the way. Mind you there's some pretty fine pictures added after it too. Well done guys! My attempt was taken from the stern of Davy Holt's Catchalot when I was fishing with him in March 2004. The shot was taken around 07:00hrs looking North along the Sound of Mull towards Lochaline. Cheers Davy!
  4. Hi Eeverybody, Some of you may know me and some may also know the boat. I have just brought a Maxcraft 13foot day angler called Seaspray from a chap down in Cornwall and I go to collect it this weekend. I have a question though. I am doing a little bit of research into muy boat and I have been trying without much/any success to locate the original manufacturer for Maxcraft. The internet searches all come up with a New Zealand firm who make aluminium boats and have done since 1974. As Seaspray is made entirely from GRP I don't think it's them. Can anyone tell me if Maxcraft are still going, or have been brought out, or just not in business? Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
  5. Has this thread died a death? There hasn't been any repsonse on this subject for a few days now, or had everyone gone elsewhere?
  6. Hi Ian, SOS is good for me too. May I suggest that we avoid the .net address though and go with the .org one. The .org.uk looks like we are limited to the UK and therefore a small concern. I know at the moment we are, but it won't help us to advertise that fact. Once you get a basic framework for the organisation, I'd be happy to amend my homepage so that it advertises it and gives a link to it. If that's ok with you of course?
  7. Ian, For what it is worth, I too thought along the lines of your wife with SOS. But I also had SAS "Save All Sharks". Some form of name that gets "hits" from web searches like SOS or SAS that aren't necessarily shark based but it will get picked up by them. For example someone hoping to find out about the SAS (those wonderful army bods) will also get the Save All Sharks (Say!) site thrown at them. In a sense you'd be building in some free advertising. It seems that you have a number of suggestions for a name. Why don't you put up a few for a vote.
  8. Hi Ian, All, Have just finished reading through the threads and totally agree with everything you are trying to do. If you are looking for members then count me in too. Not sure how or if I can help, or even if I need to with all the offers from the more "worldly" members in here. I run a website http://www.walton-sea-angling.co.uk and some of the guys in here already appear on it. It currently receive soemwhere in the region of 700 visits (not all unique visits) a month and I'd be more than happy to start a page dedicated to your wesbite or even just put a link, or whatever. May be a bit weak this one but how about "Shark Hound And Recreation Conservancy" Keep up the good work!
  9. Excuse me just a minute. Been reading the thread... what's a yak? Aren't they those ruddy great cow things?
  10. Hiya List, Davy, Having been lucky enough to see one of Davy's pets in the flesh. Go on Davy, I dare you to try and fish from one of them Yak thingies. Only please, leave that clutch set nice and loose!
  11. Re Davy's Catamaran, Having had the pleasure of fishing with him for two days late March'04, I can certainly vouch for it's stability. Normally after spending a day on-board a single hull boat, I suffer from land motion for the best part of the following night. No such problems after a Davy H trip. And Davy, don't think it was your toasted cheese sarnie that got your victim over the side, the one you prepared for me was mega-scrumptious just set me up for a "bambi" burger later from Jean. All the best,
  12. Hi All, Just thought I mention my website. Please feel free to drop by and have a look around, perhaps even sign the guestbook? All welcome. Find me at http://www.walton-sea-angling.co.uk
  13. Hi All, I too am new in here. Some of you may already know me though. To be frank, I had never heard of John Darling but but that is my great loss. However, to read so many touching tributes to him, I feel that the fishing world will be at a loss to find another like him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
  14. Cheers Davy! Had a brief looksee at some of the posts. Some good topics and even better conversation. Long may it continue!
