  1. cheers andy, there not the e-sox ones then, the old skool ones they are. if theer anything like the other drennans i have seen in use they will be pukka. cheers mate
  2. kool skool, as you are confident with them, and i dont think you'll keep them out of the water longer than nesccersary, plus if its nights temps/water temps shouldnt be too high. i dont preach mate just advise ie i aint the piking police lol (not directed at anyone on HERE) [ 13. 3. pike!-love em, small ones are wicked when they look fresh out of the mould, just think how big that little fella might grow. doing bettetr than me,i cant seem to hook up at the mo when lure fishing!
  4. well bloody said! dan,not being funny mate, but leave the pike well alone, until winter at least, are you confident handling them?
  5. andy, what them drennan deadbait rods like? was thinking of getting a pair.i like the look of them, what about action/playing fish? was looking at them or the fox ones. piker? paul mc-technium,i was going for the medium, stilll might as ill have interchangeable tips then.! 6. is it good then? looks good but im temtped by the tfg rod i like the satin finish non-flash,exactly what i need
  7. i'm a pred head! i have x2 12' 2 3/4tc pike rods(not carbon either boy are they heavy but bloody solid!) x1 lure rod rated 15-50g x1 avon rod 1.75.tc(perching in pedunkle places, and big chub surface rod) x1 9' through action 1.5tc for freelineing small streams for chub. x1 livebait snatching rod!the one match rod i own. soon to upgrade the pike rods but the others will be kept for tight snaggy swims! also after a new chub rod with a quiver section thats suitable for chub. and probabaly an ultra light lure rod for perch and chub. when i get round to it some 3lb tc long range deadbait rods and for catting uses too. 8. i'm thinking of getting a shimano technium feeder rod for chubbing this winter,i have read they are the nutts very well made and balanced. also on my list to look at more closely is the tfg x1 river and stream,a proper chub rod.
  9. i had a good look couldnt see the stripey, maybe when i go i can convince elkm to get some preds on board lol nice pics mate sounds like you had a good day.
  10. i used to fish all day in the heat,12 hours sometimes!! not anymore,i lure fish early and late, occasionally all day usaully exploring new waters. i go looking for fish to target at dusk, its not worth sitting it out in the sun mosst times, the fish wont be intrested till late normally, saying that it can be worth i myself have caught barbel in bright hot days, tench and carp too. nights are great too, this year im doing more nights after zeds in the fens, do enjoy a night session.
  11. i hooked a duck once,i almost cut the line, but my brain kicked in(no offence) and i got it in close and my mate netted it. we then straddled the duck, while my mate calmed it i unhooked it. duck was fine,a little buzzed out, bnut fine. add to that i saw a swan while out with a friend on friday, appeared to have line coming from its mouth, unless it was tethered i wouldnt approach a swan or geese, they are big birds with a lot of power in their wings, especially swans.best thing to do is call out the RSPCA or swan rescue, they will know how to deal with it,i beleive ther are several swan sancturies around the country.they may even be able to help with geese. 12. thata why chevin lives there...he aint no fool!
  13. wow! guess were im heading soon! barbel, grayling, rainbows, gudgeon, minnows and CHUB!!roach and are there some brown trout there? some of them chub look big, love the chublets, they outnumber the roach and gudgeon where i fish, the jump on ya maggots mob handed at times! now thast wot my bait tank should look like! did they have any zander or pike-any predators at all apart from chevin?.
  14. blue is supposedly a good colour in deep water, cant explain why!
  15. yes yes but they smell awfull! and my dog keeps nicking em!
  16. source,trigga,maple-8,activ-8 allwork very well.plus you dont have to **** about drilling pellets, maggots are good but require corect feeding and presentation. meat is pants for anything other than eels. or do something completely different, and try,cockles(non-pickled)prawns,bacon rind, corn all sorts! be quite honest theres bugger all difrence between halibuts and decent boilies.failing that make your own boilies from ground down halibut pellets!
  17. it wont benifit ulness its stocked, and it probably will harm kit becuase people being people like to leave rubbish around. wouldnnt get your hopes up,wont make much diference to the fishing...
  18. madness isnt it? my cousin and his sister was on his way to work,he was on the victoria line, apparently one in front went up? they got evacuated at euston.they came out of the station and tried to get on the no.30 bus, they couldnt,it was packed or they just missed it,well that was the one that went up too. somebody wwas watching over them today, hes pretty shaken up at mo,his sister too. . i pray for the injured and the dead,my thoughts are with them and there familys. 19. danny, so wadeing is out,ok not up for scaring them out? if it really is that snaggy, then it might be best to leave em be as hard as it is. i really would try pre-baiting up stream of them.good luck a pic will help,be able to see how to approach it then.
  20. can you not wade in to fish? or, pre-bait it or go for broke fill it it in see if they get there heads down, sit on your hands till dusk and then place your hookbait. one other method sometimes works...spook them away from the snag!,bait up downstream or upstream (this is the difficult bit determing wich way they will go) and spook thenm out of the snags stones bit of noise, the chub will take some catching after but the barbel will be catchable i think. worth a go.
  21. scraper double! looks a bit ghostie, nice fish.
  22. i have a fox adjusta, nice chair light, wieghs around 3.5kg i think, bit cumbersome as it doesnt fold flat but makes up for it with adjustable seating postions, wich are usefull.i like it would buy another.
  23. nice fish mate,is that a stradic i spy too my mistake ferret, fine they are.
