  1. ebay..plenty there mate, also US ebay.
  2. It is getting a bit late in the season for tench, but anyway.....I would use 3 or 4 lb line, size 12 or 14 hooks. Loose feed sweetcorn instead of using groundbait. Use corn, bread or luncheon meat on the hook. Some things to remember about tench: The bait must be hard on the bottom and static, they love the margins, especially near lillies, do not cast to the middle of the lake, keep it close in. They love dawn and dusk, the first and last two hours of the day. Use an insert waggler, shot it down so only 1/4 - 1/2 an inch is visible. Sink the line between rod and float. Good luck!
  3. Stewart...I went to a day ticket commercial near Worcester in the summer...it was not bad actually, if you can live with the falseness of it all.
  4. bluezulu....what do i want? erm.....a BIG lake, sorry mate, suffering from large gravel pit withdrawal, I fancy some lure fishing but can't find anywhere round here that is not a canal, a furious river or a small carp pond....but I'll just have to adapt
  5. I have been thinking about joining BAA for a while. I live very close to the Fladbury stretch of the Avon (moved there recently). There don't seem to be any large lakes on the BAA though which puts me off a little....and I know squat about river fishing, I wouldn't mind a trip to the Teme as an observer so you guys could show me how it's done.
  6. Kendo: Yeah...what IS that lump of stuff under his left rear leg? I will have to go and investigate...maybe it's newt s**t. Newt: We talk funny because we ARE funny
  7. Tesco do a very good pay-as-you-go ISP.
  8. No not that kind - this kind: I took this picture of this little guy in my front porch this evening. I am glad he was LEAVING the house and hope he was alone. I have found many strange things in my house before but never an amphibian. Question for the other Newt: After your trip can you now speak fluent British?
  9. Could someone please remind me how to upload pictures directly?
  10. Hello Puddin and welcome. Look no further than South Cerney Angling Club: http://www.scac.org.uk/public/home.asp Some huge lakes, some small ones, popular with motorhome owners where they park right next to the swim. I have caught many fine fish from this venue....AND they have a clubhouse/bar/shower room right on the bankside and all for just 35 quid a year. And 5 minutes from there is: http://www.ashtonkeynesanglingclub.info/ Two good big lakes with a large carpark in between. I don't know so much about this one but you could always phone them.
  11. Seph: Sorry but I do not fancy the John Wilson rod Graham X: The Shakespeare seems a bit short and more of a leger road, I am thinking more of a feeder rod. jeepster: your offer is tempting, I am thinking about it. Thanks everyone for your advice.
  12. Hello jeepster, I have sent you a PM
  13. After years of being a dedicated tench man I have recently moved very near the Worcestershire Avon and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reasonably priced quiver rod for this river.
  14. Tog, indeed you are not the only one. A sure sign of being a grumpy middle aged man is shouting at the television. What i would like to know is WHY Canada needs submarines and how come the British ran these boats for years without mishap and the Canadians have not managed to get one across the ocean.
  15. I am curious to know which way yoxer votes
  16. You may have....I suggest you buy a new fan and keep it in the cupboard as a backup. Also, consider it could still be the HD at fault (intermittently) I suggest you start backing up all your essential stuff just in case.....good luck
  17. Glad I could help Chris, I have been worried that we had managed to screw up your computer, glad everything is sorted
  18. I could well be the CPU fan, they make a grinding noise if they are worn (and cold)which often goes away when they get warmed up. You should try replacing it before replacing your hard drive because they only cost £5-10 and they frequently fail. Be warned that if it is your fan it will get worse not better and then eventually fail which means melt down for your CPU or if your CPU is "faulty fan protected", your computer will simply stop working.
  19. OK yoxer you win mate, you have worn me down and I have to go and get ready for my next shift.
  20. Good post Pugs....why don't we stop ranting at each other?
  21. darrell.cook, your replies are always thought provoking. I can't really see much alternative but that we live with the fact that there are always going to be poor people on benefits. We are lucky that we are the fourth largest economy in the world and we can afford it. Pugs, I was simply pondering on why we are OK with spending billions on submarines etc. and not OK with giving aid to what you percieve as scroungers. Have you ever lived on benefits? I have and it is no walk in the park. OK so some people abuse the system, well they are welcome to it, I have been poor and it is crap. You hate the scroungers on a pittance but you have no problem with the fat cats like Gent who are really taking the p*ss with their 6 million salaries for abject failure. And by the way our Nuclear submarines do not defend the country they simply assure mutually assured destruction to any other country with a nuclear capability. Sorry for ranting.
  22. Perhaps small fish could be the new boilies? A bit tough on the small fish though. I remember when I was a lad watching the goldfish in our garden pond and the big goldfish would eat the very small goldfish (their own offspring) only one of the batch was quick enough to make it to adulthood. So in theory then it should be possible to catch carp on livebait.
  23. "In 2001, Mr Gent outraged many investors by amassing £6m through salary and bonus payments - for the year when the mobile phone group reported the biggest loss in UK corporate history." This quote is from this news item: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/business/2782783.stm It is easy to see why people who have nothing have no shame in exploiting the system if this is the kind of example the patricians in this country display. I wonder how much it costs the tax payer to fund these girls compared to how much it costs the tax payer to maintain a nuclear submarine fleet. Who exactly are we going to nuke? And why?
  24. I am going to bed......Gent got a 10 million golden goodbye for orchestratng the worst corporate loss in the history of business and you guys blame single mothers.....the poorest people cannot chang things.
