i love fishing for flounder `flukes` as there called round yer. pound for pound the humble flounder (on the right gear) gives a better fight than alot of sea fish!!! theres not many about in the estuary at present, maybe spawning? one thing i`ve noticed about `fluke` fishing on the taw is that people say there is a certain season for them traditionally autumn.but there is nice fish to be had in the summer months aswell as smallish bass (that must be returned).on a small coarse feeder rod and 6lb line is proper fun.

did john wilson got paid in kalashnikovs for that filming...??????

used to love scalextric. that weird smell of burning electrical contacts...mmmmmmm but the most remembered was a black widow catapult.my entire marble collection went in a matter of days. along with some neighbours greenhouses

got rosy cheeks again today... spring is in the air.birds are singing at dusk.and the skylarks are going mental in the day even though the nights are cold. even cock pheasants are getting tooooo cocky.the `sap be rising` as they say down yer.they try to frighten you away as if your on their land. if they get to close to the spring green crop as they do,there is only one winner....12 bore!!! god bless spring.yum yum wrapped in bacon some herbs and butter. sorry hungry now

anyone witness the big tide this morning or the lowest tide this year???? the early 19th century flood defences held well at braunton marshes luckily there was no low pressure out to sea and the rivers not in spate. there was only a foot left of bank stopping the sea flooding in.

well ive been working out in it all day and it has been the sunniest day of the year. absolutely proper! even got slight sunburn on my cheeks and nose saw a few snow/hail showers come of the sea and pound bideford way for a while but apart from that musnt grumble.

fantastic surf tom beat me to it wouldnt catch me out in it though.saw similar size surf last year in north devon when the tide and the swell were perfect, an amazing site.

nice one steve. been using a chinese import i got of ebay which is ok for the price but a red light would be ideal for late night beach sessions. led`s are the way to go.although they dont have a decent spot beam, its all you need on a beach. got sick of carrying around a motorbike battery and having the power cable get in the way,plus new bulbs are abou £3or 4,beeen through 2 in less than year. might have to save up for one
