PS You doing a great job for me doc and all the other RSA reps........I couldnt keep up with the workload PPs while youre here Doc can you confirm the legality of using edible crab as bait from the shore on this coast? There was a post on here a while back that suggested it was ok to use from the shore but not a boat.......

  7. I heard of a case locally last year where a guy was searched on his way home collecting bait....he had 6 undersize edibles in his bucket and got stung by a big fine

  9. Nice report Glenn........ Im gonna have a go Sat night....where were you? RHB? still lots of mops up there?
  10. Id have been over the moon with five bass
  11. My first and only bass on a lure....... I know its not a biggy but Im thinking I can only go up in size from here
  12. twice as long as from its middle to its end
  13. Good news ....might actually catch a table worthy fish from my home town this year
  14. No idea about the big game line but the fluorocarbon is billed as being invisible in water due to its refractive properties being similar to water. I think it is fairly resistant to abrasion. I use it for hooklength when fishing clean sandy beaches, its too expensive for rock fishing where im losing a lot of end tackle . As far as the head torch goes Id say anything that is bright enough to let you see when baiting up etc will be fine for fishing off piers and the like. If you decide to go fishing farther afield involving treks accross rough terrain you might need something a little brighter as I find that led's just dont cut it for finding your way accross slippery rocks Hope thats of some help
  15. I might be wrong but I think its a float rig. You need to experiment with depth till you find where the mackerel are feeding.....thats assuming you are fishing off a pier
  16. There have been plenty off the pier down here too especially this last week or so... decent size too. Hard part is finding a spot to fish from. If you get down late forget it
  17. Beware if the area youre fishing in is snaggy on the bottom tho..... Dont let the spinner drop right to the bottom tho i find it best to let it sink as low as possible beofre slowly winding in with the odd gentle jerk. If your fishing at night id suggest a 1/0 or 2/0 hook baited with some silver strips of mackerel belly fillet under a float with a star light in. Experiment with depth till you find where tyhe mackerel are feeding
  18. Dont know why but reading this made me think of speakers corner in Hyde Park..... and I admit I chuckled a little
  19. Ive spent a fair few hours off both Whitby and Scarborough piers and nothing....... on Mon afternoon I saw huge shoals of tiny bait fish swimming past the rock armour off the pier and was expecting macky's to show any minute for a feast but not a sniff. I saw just one guy catch a tiny undersized fish all afternoon
  20. at Boulby? Still need a surf running tho? We didnt even take the spinning rods down there..... I only intended to see if I could find the rope again and it was easy once we found the right spot to park Then we just decided to go down just because we could
  21. My mate had a huge sandeel off whitby pier today it took the spinner intended for mackerel
  22. Nothing doing on Whitby pier this morning.... We set off to head to the gare but too hot to be driving so decided to head back and take a detour to see if i could find the rope down the cliff at Boulby again. Ended up sat at the bottom of the cliff for a cuppa Cliff is definitely easier to get up in trainers shorts and t shirt instead of waders with a rucksack and fishing rod..... Was still a grind tho
  23. Im sure the chorus went something like " Dont pay the ferryman Dont pay the ferryman Until he gets you to the other side "
