  1. Nice one, looking for a new one myself, well newish anyway
  2. Its not just the Tweed, all of the catchment rivers in the area, Teviot etc. are experiencing a grayling boom guess it must be part of the natural cycle of growth and fall in numbers
  3. I'm not so sure it is, the surname might be similar, Andrew/Andy, but the geography is wrong, or at least I think its wrong Andy's beef is the Wensum which is some 100/150 miles from the Trent and the area of latest legal conflict so that kind of sways me away from the Youngs/Biddulph connection, we English think some of our American cousins are a bit odd but looking from your side at us it would seem we have more than our fair share of odd balls, """ “This is about the rights of the British people, and if it costs me everything I’ve got it’s a small price to pay.” "", a statement we've heard before from Andy but never has he said he's prepared to risk his own money or home to bring and fund his own test case rather more of wanting someone to sue him Still it takes all sorts
  4. Over to you Mr Youngs for your unique spin and perspective, can't understand why he has'nt responded so far, maybe he's busy making his case for prosecuting the Wensum clubs (beware of flying pigs) and is'nt aware of the latest setback to the cause On a seperate thought what is it that drives certain individuals to the edge of bankruptcy to try and prove a point that legally does'nt stand up
  5. Have to look at this tonight, works laptop has a block on content
  6. Give it a go, fishings meant to be fun, should be a bit of a different feel when you get a run so why not
  7. Any centre pin of decent quality can be used for pike or barbel its just a case of upping the line strength, so long as the pin and outer case are strong enough you should'nt have any problems, anyway you've been selling pins not buying them lately have't you
  8. Nice one, any pike over 15lb is a bit special, even better when you've just got a beut
  9. Thats not cheap is it, £70 for two anglers for the day fishing out of a boat and fly only restrictions as well, guess they're trying hard to make sure the odds are well stacked against the angler then
  10. That eels been dead for quite some time judging by the condition of the skin
  11. My target is the same as every year, try and catch a river 30lb plus pike, has one out at 25lb 3oz this year and theres been a couple of heavier ones that I know about so its possible, possible but very very hard and its the expectation thing that gets me going, I also like to have a target of double figure barbel when I aim for those and some years manage it sometimes not but again its the not knowing what takes your bait that gets me out on the bank Catching fish of any size of your target species is what the plans all about but when it all comes together and you get a real lump out then its one of those red letter days you remember for years
  12. And thats another suberb fish Mr Palmer, makes me a bit green with envy as thats a fish I''ve yet to catch but would like to, had my one and only go for them at Ely and blanked in style even though there was supposed to be a few around but when you see fish like the two above it makes me want to have another crack
  13. Wow, thats a real cracker, nice way to round off a season is that
  14. Splits in fingers cant really be avoided, some of its due to the thickness of the Epi and Dermis layers of your skin and how blood pressure increases when your hands are cold to try and keep the extremities warm, so no matter how much lanolin based creams you use it can have no effect in relation to cracking fingers When your hands are wet and cold at the same time is when most damage occurs, try and keep your hands dry and towel off after getting them wet and putting a pair of gloves straight on to conserve heat, you can always wear a pair of disposable vinyl gloves similar to surgical gloves that keep off the wind and wet but you've still got to use your towel to dry the vinyl gloves otherwise the heat loss to your hands increases, I use the vinyl gloves and they do help to stop fingers cracking as I suffer terribly with it Rather than using Germolene New Skin which does work, I used to use it, I use superglue direct into the cut, dries quicker and gives a harder shell over the top, lasts longer too and the skin beneath knits together rather than forming those thick hard ridges that dont come together and prevent healing, might take two applications of superglue but its much much better, if you have the accellerant hardner spray that goes with it you can be fishing again within 20 seconds of a cut opening up
  15. I work with asbestos during the course of works, or put it another way, manage asbestos removal as part of my job (site manager) and although some types of asbestos can be removed by non licenced contractors who've got the appropriate qualifications and insurance, the vast majority of it (removal)has to be done under controlled conditions The landlord is talking out of his arse, before any works take place he should have had an invasive survey carried out with analysed samples as identified by a lab certified as capable of carrying out the analysis, the asbestos regs changed in April 12 and are now even more onerous on property owners and their agents who authorise work on their behalf The landlord can be jailed if the HSE are involved after the event , the penalties are that severe, before work starts on properties that have asbestos in them, then by law the HSE must be informed If you want any more or detailed response just shout up, off out now for last day on the river
  16. You'll only get access to their privilidged days on certain waters and theres always been a bit of an issue about who gets to fish certain events anyway, usual gripe was that some seemed to be always able to get tickets for Mentieth whilst others had applied for years and seemingly got no where
  17. Very much last minute thing Barry, got a call at dinner time Friday from the no.2 director asking if I could cover a job for two night and could I leave straight away, got gear together and took off for the tunnel, four and a half hours later I'm in the Premier Inn just off the bridge in the Ind est nearby Came home Sunday at 11.30am to absolute chaos at the bridge and tunnel, found out later a guy parked his car on the bridge and crossed the safety lines to jump, despite efforts from police he jumped at about 3pm Will have to sort a trip out with you on your home turf later in the year
  18. Not too far away then, what sort of gear are you looking for, river, lake type of gear etc for different species
  19. Might be better off in the coarse section John, get a few more hits that way, bit further North than you so can't offer anything either
  20. Like it Nice one Barry , how you doing, was down Sarf Fri/Sat doing a couple of night shifts in Belverdere, they don't half talk funny down there
  21. Had a look, or tried to have a look, you have to join and be logged in before you can view anything, might get a few new members if they can see the content first
