  1. Any model to be honest, 5010 gt gte etc, looking for something in good condition if possible and slightly cheaper than ebay prices, cheers Dan
  2. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Feb 4 2006, 06:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fine him £5,000, take away his fishing license so he has to sell his boat, then he can get a job or go on the social, at least he has a roof over his family's head and another over quota fisherman is off the sea, more fish for those that are left. Isnt that a form of financial penalty? I didnt suggest it has to be a fine
  3. I havent heard such a silly thing for a long time. A family man finding it hard to keep the books balanced decides to illegally keep fish, over the quota, gets caught and gets sent to prison alongside rapists and child molesterers, his family are left without dad for 5 years??? No, ridiculous argument. It should be financial penalties, and much heavier ones than are currently given. After all, its effectively a financial-driven crime.
  4. This is now on ebay so no sale any more... might fetch enough to buy a brand new century if im lucky! heh...
  5. why not stick it on ebay - you miht get close to £85 on there
  6. This guy from arbroath makes trailes to suit... send him an email... tim@stretton5560.freeserve.co.uk
  7. on the clyde we call a fish a miracle...
  8. Looking for a century tip tornado sport... This reel has been bought brand new from a shop and not ever used, comes with box, papers etc. Looking for a decent condition tts... Cheers Dan
  9. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Jan 17 2006, 08:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure about that one, some of the early LD's had problems, probably better with a Shimano Charter Special, great uptiding reel. agree...abu 7000ld cack!
  10. very short of cash just now manx, will probably be limited to £600 for the engine. Maybe we should just keep the old johnson seahorse that we have just now and look for a new one next autumn. we have a good auxillary motor if anyhting goes wrong. still have a vhf to buy just now anyway!
  11. Just to re-awaken this old thread... we are now sorted with an orkney fastliner 16, currently with an ancient 25 hp johnson on it which we are hoping to change soon. Thing is i am finding it difficult to get info on engines for fastliners. I guess 20-30hp is ideal, should probably wait till we get out on her with this 25 and see how it goes. has anyone had a fastliner and able to say which engines are best?
  12. Im selling this as we just bought a new boat which comes with its own auxilary. It is a 5hp 4 stroke engine, one of the silver coloured hondas known for their reliability, economy and quiet running. Long shaft so ideal for most angling boats, tiller steering and manual start - simple to use as an auxillary engine should be. Would also be good as a main engine on a loch boat. Pictures are available to anyone interested, £400 including an old fuel tank. This engine has never been ran for any length of time, sat as an auxillary. I think its a year 2000 model and has been started up and run in fresh water occasionally to keep it ticking over. Basically as good asnew with a few cosmetic scratches. Located in glasgow
  13. I agree in practice most people wont use a braked trailer for a trooper, but i think sitting one on a weighbridge might show it to be pretty close to that weight. 10 miles offshore... we dont fish any marks that far off. I'm sure we could but dont feel the need really! Just dont have the money, the means or the will to own a big heavy fast boat for a while anyway... we have had them and didnt feel as comfy as with this fastliner. Basically we are the type of guys to up and go camping/fishing for 3-4 days, maybe motor out to a small island and camp etc, and the easier it all is the better... we can manhandle this orkney down a beack and use the car to tow it back up again with a rope etc which you cant do with bigger boats! Will see how it goes, considering getitng a newer engine for it soon but who knows.
  14. alright happy... me and fraser have recently sold out seatrooper as we found her a bit too much boat for our needs to be honest, and are currently now on our 3rd boat in ten months. Got her with a 70hp evinrude and 5hp honda aux, full electrics etc for a very very fair price and never really got to fully test her out. Come winter and with me going back to university we decided to sell her for a decent profit, but the lack-of-boat bug has just become too much so... We have just came back from cumbria having bought an orkney fastliner 16! This things got an old engine on her but a brand new auxillary, good trailer and full electrics again, and only paid 2500! The main difference I notice is the towing... it is amazing! Ive got a 1.6 astra estate and the trooper (500kg boat, 200 kg of trailer/batteries/anchors/steering systems etc, 150kg of engines, 30kg petrol = basically 900kg) was a real strain a lot of the time, but now im towing about 500kg and its just great! I feel so much more comfy towing this rig than before, since cost stops me upgrading to a bigger car/4x4. Plus we never seem to go more than a mile or two offshore and dont really need a 35 knot machine! What I would say is that having a big bad fast boat isnt the only way to get out there fishing, and if you are careful you can do it on a budget. Why not try to buy/sell a boat for a little profit to help make the overall thing a bit more affordable? PS happy dude you should technically have a braked trailer with the trooper, 750kg being the limit! Not trying to be smart though
  15. ffs... get real. ye pretend witchy boys an all ye learned froyer maws can get tae france... an quit wasting internet space with pretend arguments about fishin
  16. bog_cod ... on the other hand, the lad did get a free days fishing, some good fish, plus £500! Maybe the picture was poor quiality or something. Ultimately, he is 16, not 10. When I was 16 I could take anything! Thought I was invincible at that age! sorry bout the spelling... wasnt deliberate!
  17. "I demand to see the manager, this jar of pickle is broken" "Really sir?" "Yes, I dropped it on the way out of the shop and it broke..." "Riiiiiight"
  18. Ive been doing a lot of pool practice with sit inside yaks with the uni sports club, so rolls etc are ok for me if i was going down that rout, but i just wanna cruise around the coastline on nice summers days to be honest, spot eagles on mull, other birds around the scottish isles etc. so something stable and 'toury' would be better
  19. Im looking for something for ma and my mate to pootle around in, not for fishing but just to paddle and get used to being on the water, has anyone got a decent old kayak or two lying about that they want rid of?
  20. Should this be called a 'catyak'???
  21. seems some people are taking the forums faaaar too seriously! Would you all bicker like this if you were face to face? I dont think so, because then you can detect humourisms etc that cannot be picked up online. So why not just close this thread and ignore any emails/pms that you get about it, because after all the mods arent here to earn a living, its a hobby to them too, so who can really be ar*** with all this? Maybe the ones bickering are the ones who arent actually getting out fishing often enough to relieve the stresses of life, so they take them out on here... PS I wont be replying to any bitchy personal comments about this message becasue i CANT BE BOTHERED!!! Bye
  22. A super mag is £110 from marsh tackle, £98 for the normal mag, for example
  23. err grayling... you wont sell it for that price mate, they sell in the shops brand new with guarantees for that price or less. (mail order) Try something more like £60-65 and you will sell it.
  24. Id rather catch a 200lb conger simply because its so much bigger than what anyone else has caught on rod and line before. I can't judge which fish would fight better, but it would be a different fight. Skate would probably be able to exert more force but a conger's fight might be more dogged and active.
