  1. When fishing the likes of priory point i always thread a lug worm up the snood then head hook about 8-10 creeper on, then turn the hook upside down and add a couple of turns of elastic cotton, quick dip in the tide just to stop the tails flying off. But as you know everyone has there own way of doing things.
  2. Last summer i found one in my crab traps that are in the duddon estuary cumbria. I contacted the natural history museum who asked me to send it to them for disection as it was the furthest north on west coast that had been reported. So just wondering how far north they are now.
  3. Try halfords they sell reflective tape in a 1" strip about 6 feet long.Been building rods for years and only ever used about 3 rolls of the stuff just lasts forever.Tried those battery powered tip lights but always seem to get the line caught round them and bang there goes another £5 cast out to sea never to be seen again.
  4. No disrespect to anyone but people spend quite a few hundreds on rods reels etc and go onto the beach with a lame excuse for a light that will let them down just when there striking into that double figure fish of a lifetime when that cheap nasty light lets you down. Spend the extra and get a good reliable headlamp.
  5. Next time don't be so tight and give the rod to me for whipping and then i won't go bust.......
  6. Sorry i should of said the dca grip away in 6oz and if anyone wants to swap for a 5oz let me know. cheers
  7. Hi all i'm after a 6oz dca sinker mould new if they still make them or a secondhand any help appreciated.
  8. Boiling water will not affect the line, when they extrude the nylon to make fishing line its heated somewhere between 200 to 250 degrees c so boiling water at 100 degrees should not bother it.
  9. You could try phoneing terry carrol on 01797 366602 i think you will be lucky though because he dosent know what rod you will be putting them on as you may be trying to make another make look lke its a zziplex.
  10. You havent said whether red/blow lug or black. One tip is when digging the smaller blow lug, look for a good bed of casts which is reasonable dry, they may be 2 forks down so take the first spit out at an angle and turn it back inside the hole this stops the water building up so you dont have to dig in sloppy wet sand then take he second spit out 3/4 of the way down the first dig and hopefully theres your worm. If its black i always use a spade and chase them out 1 at a time. It may be worth while investing in a small bore bait pump which you can pick up for less than £3o on the web.
  11. Havent seen them yet, but why when the impact sheild is idiot proof and just about every angler has some rigs made up with them. shield that is
  12. Why not keep it for chickens then at least you can have fresh eggs.
  13. Well put it this way most of the toys i bought for the kids this christmas only just made it through boxing day. You just can't be british craftsmanship.
  14. Could it be a boat prop, would a seal bite not cut both sides of the fish.
  15. Any of the gear made here in Alnwick is still going strong What if any of the new greys sea rods are made in this country. At present i have 4 of the british made greys but have reservations about buying one made in the far east.
