  1. Watch that Blackvelvet cos if she gets you out on that boat it’ll be more than your rod that gets bent.
  2. Yes 2 and 3 years ago. Rod is very helpfull and will try to get you over the fish. It's up to you to pull them in though.I think it's one of his sons who skippers his other boat.
  3. Before you book a charter boat make it clear, to the skipper, what sort of fishing you want to do. As tides for his area may not coincide with the type of fishing you require, with the date you need the boat. Prices vary from which port you want to go out of. Types of fishing Wrecking, normally further out you go the more it costs. Uptiding, in river estuaries Thames or Severn A little less expensive as the boat has not far to travel. Weekends are the dearest charter times. Most skippers will give you a good price for through the week. If a boat takes 10 or 12, take no more than 8. It may work out a bit more expensive but the difference in fishing time, not undoing tangles, makes it a bit more comfortable. Markhams Fishing Tackle of Ipswich have, 2 charter boats. They are moored up on the River Deben and depart from the Old Felixstowe Ferry. Rod will also organise bait for you.
  4. So it's round your house for a fish supper. Were it those pirks that you made up, you used.
  5. Pete It’s about time you got your hands down them deep pockets of yours and bought some new kit. No wonder you’re a blanker. Desford Sea Angling Society

  8. Bass Illegal Nets When shore fishing, around the UK, if I come across fixed netting up and down the beach. How do I know if it is illegal? If someone is attending the nets, do I approach them? Is there a phone number I can contact, and hopefully get a quick response?
  9. We are looking for a shore venue in Mid April, for an in club competition. Looking at Norfolk / Suffolk beaches, without any tide restrictions, is there an area we should target. Types of fish, Bass, Sole, Dabs or Whiting, as long as there is fish. Any information on the areas, that you know, would be appreciated.
  10. Well thanks to the internet I had a good day out(Blanked) on the Holderness coast fishing with someone I met on the forums. Talking of fishing experiences and kit, when the subject of beach buddys came up. Only for him to have a John Holden one going for a song. It was only a few months old and was in prime condition. I now have a John Holden Beach Buddy for well under £50. Thanks to all for your help.
  11. plasti-kote Spray Paint, Fast Dry Enamel,Clear If you use a varnish it has to be fine because ordinary varnish will dull the effect.
  12. Has anyone seen, know what they are called and where would you get one. A three pronged lifting hook. They look like a three hook loose toothed grappling iron when you drop them they open and on lifting they grip onto whatever is under them. Good for lifting fish up to high landing areas, like piers or cliffs.
  13. Jim It's bad enough carrying my box of kit, rod rest & rods half a mile, you don't expect me to carry bags with pebbles or sand aswell.
  14. Looking at the Badger Beach Shelter is the black skirt where you cover with sand, stones, shingle etc
  15. Buying a Beach Buddy. What are your experiences of Beach Buddies? What do I look out for when buying one, I don’t want one with ropes? Whose make do I look for? Is it worth buying a cheap one or paying twice the price for a top make?
  16. And here's me doing kippers in a plastic bag with a nob of butter A Taste of Kippers
  17. Jim the photo of Weymouth would have been better if you could swing around a bit to the right so I could see Becky, in the Sailors Return, through her bedroom window.

  19. Painting Lead Pirks There’s a number of ways, Special Metal Paints, Powder Coatings or try this way B & Q will have all of these. Hammerite. White & Black. These are used as a base paints and help key the paint to the lead. Day Glow colours of your choice Orange, Red, Greens, Black, Blues, Yellow and Silver. Small jars of these are available also Aerosol cans plus cheap artist brushes. Aerosol cans will be used for the bulk of spraying, with the small jars of paint used for those personal touches. Paint the Pirks with Hammerite base paint first. Always allow the paint to dry before adding the next coat. Using Aerosol cans and then adding your personal touches, using the Small jars, you can be as artistic as you like. When doing this I used the Wife’s Rotating Washing Line, for Hanging the Pirks. It looked like A Xmas Tree.
