  6. Hi dingdong and welcome to AN. Baggy point is quite a walk and not the safest of places to go. It is a deep water mark and access is down some cliffs wich can be slippy in wet conditions. Woolacombe beach is a storm beach and can get blowen out quite easly in a good swell. Have heard of some Turbot being taken there over the last few weeks but they are only small ones. bass are being caught there as well but again mostly schoolies. that said a 17 lber was taken there recently. to fish this beach you need to be the far end of the beach from woolacombe village. Ilfracombe has a peir you can fish, you need the key from the tackle shop near the bus station. alternativly you can fish from the carpark at the pier, go to the furthest point of the car park next to the sea wall and fish straight out. you know if your in the wrong area as there is loads of snags. behind the thearter on the front, is a car park, you can also fish this point but again it is snaggy. Capstan rock can also fish well at times and may be worth a shot.

  14. Scaned this of the local rag for you folks. nice fish There is talk of a 18 lb bass being taken off Ilfracombe on wednesday, not confermed as of yet.
  15. Knowing my luck if i did the above i would only get the net around my prop for all the hassle it's worth. Will be having a word with them though to see if i can change there ways.
  16. I went into my local tackel shop yesterday, in there was a couple of friends i know. we got on to the subject of nets and found out that there are four young lads puting out nets at Crow point in the taw estuary. This is inside a bass nursry area. They are known to the right people but no action has been taken against them as they are only 14. They go out in a small rowing boat, so a quick fly by may be needed in my boat, I wonder how big the wake is?
  17. I keep seeing this same argument time after time on this forum. I agree that some comercials are at fault and need to have the full weight of the law throwen at them. They know the laws of this land or should do, so if they break the law then bring them to justice, even if it means putting them out of a living. As for anglers, we on this forum know the rules and laws, if we don't, hopefully we ask to find out. Lets be honest here, Not all anglers in the U.K. are on this forum, most have never even heard of it.Many wouldn't even know the size limits regarding any fish in uk waters. I don't know them all off by heart and have problely broken the law without even knowing it. From this forum we learn and understand things regarding angling. Just ask your self this Sam - If you were not on this forum or any other how much would you know?. I am not saying ignorance is an excuse but how do others find out about the law. Does a list of the rules come with the nice shiny rod and reel you just bought, I think not. Does your local tackle shop tell all anglers the laws of the land, no. Anglers need to educated in a lot of cases, ranting and raving on here the way you do just puts peoples backs up. I think we all know that there is a serious lack of knowledge with in the fishing fraturnity but how is it put wright?
  18. who's going to teach him how to tie a knot then?

    tackle shops

My local shop has a kettle. It takes so long to boil you get board and start looking around and spending your money.
  20. Hi Elton I've recently rebuilt my trailer, The cost of the steel was about £175 in total, hand winch £80, Wheels and suspension £150. then all the other bits and pieces to go with it. I wasn't that happy the way it towed, Took it out for the second time and didn't check the wheel nuts. Result one cream crackered wheel and hub . I phoned up a local company who build trailers and had a good chat with them, A fully galvinized trailer for my boat with everything on it including a spare wheel is costing £507.00 Bargin, seeing as the one I made wasn't galvinized.
  21. What's the chances of catching with them in the estaury? It could be a good excuse to go out in the boat
  22. Thats the way we are down here
  23. I've been told that if you tie a piece of line to the claw/legs and hang them, the weight of the shell is eventualy to much for the crab and they release the shell?

    in emergency

2 months ago I had a car go under the front of the coach i was driving (nobody hurt luckly but only just).Where the accident happened there was no signal on the mobile. Dialing 999 and 112 was no good as if there is no signal how can the phone work. Don,t relie on your mobile as the only way of comuication. 112 will work on the british network just as 999 will but you still need a signal.
  25. I have got someone who will supplie me hermit crab as and when i need it. I have never used this as a bait but have read it is good for smooth hound, but the season for hounds is fast comimg to an end down on the north devon coast. The flounder will start to come up the estuary this month(i hope) soon to be followed by the cod(ling). The estuary holds bass all year round all be it mostly schoolies. So I was wondering what if anything would take them in the winter months, How do you use them as a bait and what is the best presetation of hermit
