  1. OK then how about 80quid for the two!!!,i"m giving these away!!,,i want jeepsters drennan rod so come on guys!!! :-]
  2. Jeeps,if i sell my pike rods i"ll have it off you!.
  3. 2X TFG Pike rods [The Brawler] 3lb tc brand new, never been used, these rods cost me £99.99 each 2 years ago,i bought them on a whim, but still use my fox rods!!.I"m open to any half decent offer.
  4. ERE,,ERE!!!..The likes of the CLA,BASC,CA,rave on about wanting to get more people into fishing, shooting etc...at 50quid for a family of 4 it certainly puts alot of people off,i come from a very rural area where shooting and fishing is common,i personally know of 4 individuals and their families who are boy-cotting the show because of the entrance fee,,5 or 6 quid is plenty to gain entrance considering the money that will be spent at the show...Its us and them again!!!,politically correct or not the dividing line between the classes STILL exsists..and these bloody prices prove it!.
  5. Thats the reason i"m not going!!,its absolutely disgusting a family of 4 has spent 50quid before they even get through the gate!!....sheer greed thats what it is...being a shooter as well as fisherman i used to go every year until they started taking the p***..
  6. Drennan float for float, maxima for feeder....but if you intend to fish for Barbel try Krystonite in 10 or 12,i used it last season on the Ouse to great effect,it really is a super line,i"ve just purchased the same for my Chub fishing in 6lb.As stated i also use fluoro for hooklengths, sightfree is very good,as is wychwood, but i"m trying a mono out this season by WB Clarke, its been highly recommended to me by some very good fishermen..so who am i to argue!!!.
  7. C"mon lads,,you"d be lost without em!!!:-}
  8. "Why cant all anglers be friends"!!!!!
  9. Its just a matter of moderation, shame that a small minority seem to spoil it for others, nothing wrong with a cold beer whilst fishing, but if you are one of those who drink by the crate full, stay at home or go to the pub,for obvious reasons!!.I really cant see the point in getting totally ****** whilst fishing, you are endangering yourselves and others who are around you,its totally childish and uncalled for,,and to be honest they should look for another pastime.

    Dusk or Dawn

Myself like most of you lot prefere dawn, but as stated ,its dusk for me as far as my barbel fishing goes.

    Good Ebayer.

Ferret,,yes mate i agree i"ve had gear off "Helen"!!,the best ebayer i"ve delt with by far.
  13. I"ll be ousing after the chub and barbel with a mate who"s never caught the latter so fingers crossed??
  14. Gobio,,yes mate,good call,now you"ve pointed that out i totally agree,cheers.
  15. But edd,i intentionally put the hookbaits within a couple of feet of each other, used 12in hooklength, size 14 hook, and double sweetcorn for bait........so why did they take the corn attached to the thicker hooklength???,..beats me!!!!
  16. I have over 30 rods and 27 reels!!!,,to many i know but i love collecting tackle..i work hard and work 6 days a week,,so why not,the missus even treats me every so often....a marriage made in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!.
  17. Have used it this season for most of my Tench fishing, even though i didn"t have any problems,i feel that there are better lines on the market for the money.I"m beginning to think that does lower diameter line really catch you more fish??!!..The reason is last week i had a session on a lake with 2 rods, one of the rods had a slightly thicker hooklength...yet this rod had double the amount of takes??
  18. I almost "chin" all of my pike apart from when i"m on a very steep bank,i have never had a problem using this method, and is perfectly safe for pike,if i was ever in doubt i"d be the 1st to stop.

    Barbel

I agree, the Trent is probably your best bet, failing this, further south you could try the Nene, they were stocked a few years ago by the EA,not many are being caught though,i"ve only had the one, which is why i travel 40+ miles to the Ouse!!!!!!.

    front drag reel

Alan, thats a good point which eluded me,now you"ve made me re-think my idea!!!!!
  21. Not that my personal opinion matters here but,at the end of the day, this is a fishing website and speaking personally again, politics should be kept to another site,i fully appriciate people have there opinions on this subject, and have the right to voice them, but sometimes without realising, us anglers are our own worst enemies in more ways than one!!!!!!!!!!!

    front drag reel

Jeepster, are you saying i should stick with my shimanos?,,i agree the fighin drag reels are superb i use em all the time,,i just fancied a change hence the front drag option, why theoretically should the front drag be better?
  23. Surprisingly i"ve never owned or used a front drag reel before but as an angler i do like to try things out so i"ve decided to buy one,i"ve heard that the clutch on a front drag reel is better than a rear drag,is this true? if so why do most anglers use rear drag?,and finally what should i be looking for as well as avoiding,,thanks in advance.
  24. Male tench for me to they can give you a real scrap,Barbel are great fighters but tend to loose their strength after a while,I caught my 1st Rainbow last year and couldn"t believe the fight it gave me.
