  9. And therein may lie the salvation of barbel fishing, as the pressure increases then the barbel become harder to catch, and if they cant bivvy up and wait for three days then many will not try it again. This is the main reason that I would like to see night fishing for barbel stopped, or at least restricted to no bivvy's. Not popular I know, but having seen the way carp fishing went, and the influence it has had, I wish that I had not helped to campaign for night fishing back in the 50's. 17. I am not sure whether they still do these block licenses, but it is quite illuminating that 80% of the holidaying public are unaware that you need a license to fish. We have a situation with cannabis at the moment whereby because policing the use has become almost impossible so it will be decriminalised. If 80% of holidaymakers are fishing without licenses then perhaps it would be far more cost effective to let them get on with it for a week or so, they may actually get the bug and become anglers of the future. This prompts the question "why do we have to have a license to fish?" I will put my point of view that far more people would actually go fishing if they did not have to buy a license. Den

  21. Actually, (yeah, one of those Actually's) the point I was trying to make was not about hunting pack hounds, but all the other dogs that are officially classed as hounds. I listened in amazement to an expert describing how the "strength of jaw" "strong hind quarters" "head carried high for better spotting of prey" and all the other traits that are essential to maintain the hunting qualities were carefully preserved in the breeding. A similar story with the terrier class, "strong jaws" "untiring" etc. My point was how can anyone continue to justify the BREEDING of these sort of dogs after Hunting with dogs is banned? Den
