  1. 4', going for a small one then?? Sounds pretty big to me! A lot of = a lot of weight. Make sure you have a base that can take the weight.I have complete set up for sale no heater I,m in Cambridge, so if interested mail me and I will check the dimensions. Colin
  2. Elton, That's about right. You could give me a call on Monday morning and I will try one of my old suppliers for you. No promises though. Let me know the size etc. I will email my number direct. Colin
  3. How about my Nissan Primera 2.0 GT 16v '98 model Registered October '97. 68000 miles only 2 owners [ex Demo 15 miles??]. Averages 39 mpg never been over 90mph. A1 condition photo available. A snip at £4200. This leaves you enough for a good holiday + buy some more tackle. Colin
  4. pen 15 I think belongs to Steve Parrish the Truck racer. I put some tyres on it a few years back,Colin
  5. Join the ACA as a life member!! A far better use of a spare £250!Why give money to the government for something that should free anyway!! Colin
  6. Elton,I used to be in the tyre trade, so I understand why they have to be ordered in! Ther are so many variations in sizes, makes, profiles, speed ratings etc etc it would be almost impossible for most dealers to keep anything like a complete range of anything in stock! Give Kingsway Tyres at Cambridge 01223 352002 a call and get a price from them. I sold out to them about 3 years back. Ask for Kevin and mention my name. Even if you buy them mail order you will need to get them fitted and it will probably cost you a fortune, so a trip to Cambridge might be worthwhile? Just had another thought, give Claydon's of Saxham a call, they may be able to help but not fit them. Again mention my name and TC Tyres of Cambridge {my old company]. Regards, Colin
  7. To all you guys you think you may be sending address book virus'. Set up a bogus email address EG name !1234, Email address Wormalert. If your address book gets infected you will know as this bogus address will be returned as undeliverable! Hope this helps all of you guys who are't using protection. Colin
  8. his arms might not be but I bet the Tuna's head is.. what was the excuse for killing this one?   [/QB]Davy, I'm not certain it was killed! Adrian has strong views on conservation and tries to practice catch and release where possible. I don't wish to get into a discussion unless I know the full facts, but I would guess the Tuna is less resiliant than a skate, don't know only guessing. Have a look at his website and perhaps drop him an email on your question. www.tunacharters.ie Colin
  9. After Nick's posting on seeing these magnificent creatures, I came across this site http://www.mcsuk.org/ which is collecting details of sightings of Basking Sharks around the UK. So if you see one or even two or three as in Nick's case let them know by filling in the online record card. Good sighting, Colin
  10. Another 225kg Bluefin on Friday last week to a guy from Skipton in Yorkshire. I wonder if his arms are still aching? Colin
  11. Do you know, I can't remember!!Colin
  12. Only one sent in 38 years! Beat that if you can! Also never buy christmas cards and the like it's all a ripoff. I save my money and spend it on decent takle. Colin
  13. Definitely Bluefin!!!!!!!!!!!! and b****y great big ones as well.. The skipper [Adrian molloy]I went out with caught the 970lber in 2000. It wasn't recognised as the record as he caught it on 150lb line. The 868 on 130lb line should be accepted. Adrian recons they run to over 1000lbs, probably as high as 1500 which would be a world record. 2 others caught off Galway in the last couple of days. only small at 660lbs. Catch and release is practised but not on possible record fish. €600 charters the boat for a day this includes all tackle and good tackle it is too. Excellent value and the anticipation is something else. Season runs from mid August to mid November all depends on the weather. You can actually see these fish from the shore. Just awesome!!! I think I've got the Bluefin bug????????? Colin
  14. Just had a couple of days out in Donegal after Bluefin Tuna! I will send Elton a write up on the fishing when I get back from Ireland [Week after next]. Absolutely awesome fish! New european record was boated on Wednesday [not by me] 868lbs, 8' 10" long 6' 6" girth, 2hours to boat 1 hour before they saw it. The guy who caught it was still aching the following day. He said he felt as though his arms didn't belong to him anymore!! See www.tunacharters.ie Off to enjoy some more of Ireland now. Colin
  15. It certainly has. So far 4 letters in the Cambridge News in support of Angling. If you check out this thread closely, you should find some of the replies sent.Colin
  16. No, it's a shell garment made from a french goretex type material. It's windproof with a huge hood. Used with good fleeces etc, it's OK for cold weather. The one I bought only has inside pockets, but I am sure later versions now come with pockets. Take a good look at the website [www.transworldsurplus.co.uk] and give them a call if you aren't sure. I found them very helpful. Colin
  17. The rule was, possibly still is, you may take 2 pike per day under 36" in length. Over & Swavesey do not have a kill all pike rule and I am sure if he is seen he will be told not to kill any more. There is a small piece of "free" water mixed in with the rest of their fisheries, so if he is fishing there he is OK to abide by the EA rules. This is a growing problem in fenland, with more and more immigrants arriving in the area. Dead lines are being found in many fenland rivers, not that they should be attributed to immigrants only, there are quite a few unscrupulous types out there including gypsies, take-away owners, unemployed [again not all unemployed] and various deadbeats who are out to make a quick buck. Anyway the odd fish for the pot is OK by me as long as it doesn't become a way of life. Colin
  18. Sounds like I should start saving my pennies for a trip soon!! Colin
  19. See the 2nd post on this thread!Colin
  20. Yep,Bought a French [ugh] camo suit last year. I have managed to avoid too much wet weather, but when it did rain, all was well. But if you really want to stay dry, buy one of their Ponchos! Brilliant service as well. Colin
  21. Reminds me of a mate of mine who had a really excellent pattern. It was called the "Muff" fly. He said he enjoyed collecting the materials more than fishing with them!!?? I believe he also had several colour variations as well!! Colin
  22. Further to my previous posting the following is a letter I have just sent to the Cambridge News. "Attn. of The Editor. Letter "Now let's ban fishing" It may interest you to know [you may already] that this letter appeared in at least 18 other newspapers around the country at roughly the same time. All written by the same Teresas Thom and all containing the same false claims and accusations. If this letter arrived with you by email, is it possible for you to verify the source? If so I would be very surprised!! Also the address given could also be a bit suspect. I find it slightly irritating that I can give a legimate email and home address and be expected to take the consequences, while Anti-fishing organisations can get away with an office or made up address. This leaves me wondering if your and other newspapers actually check to see if proper names, addresses, and email addresses are legitimate." Colin Brett
  23. Hi all, Take a look at the following link and see 3 replies [including mine] to the T[h]eresa Thom letter. http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/news....sec=11&id=l2322 Colin
  24. Cor and I thought this was a thread about Seaman!! Colin
  25. Graham,Are you actively targeting Zander? What Sea baits are you using? I don't actually set out to catch Zander and can claim great success as well. In fact I think I am more successful at that branch of the sport than anything. However I have caught a few but never on a Sea bait, spoons and plugs yes. So where am I going wrong. Colin
