  1. AJP Not a lot I'm afraid. Trouble with this thread is that I could probably find another ten lots of ten as well as the first lot. I must admit that although I'm getting to be an old git, I quite like a lot of todays music and I am sure in years to come some of these will be classics. I remember my parents telling me to turn off that awful row, some bloke who will never last long, Elvis Presley. They said the same about the Beatles, Pink Floyd etc. One thing I have always tried not to do is criticise my kids music and infact my kids even like quite a bit of mine. Even though they were subjected to it for years. Colin
  2. Meddle is excellent!!Ummagumma, the live bit, is good as well, especially "Careful with the Axe Eugene" & "Astronomi Domini". "Careful with the axe" was in a road movie some years back, Nebraski Point I think [surprised I can remember my name sometimes??] ?????????????
  3. Yes, the email address book in Outlook Express 5.0Colin
  4. Newt or anyone who can tell me where IE5.0 stores the address book contents, how to save it and how to re-enter it. Thanks in advance Colin
  5. I have had quite a few problems with IE6 but not the same as you. I have now binned it and gone back to IE5.0. Newt posted some answers relevant to the problems I had. Basically IE6 doesn't have Java scripting so some pages are not accessible, so download free Java program from Sun website www.java.sun.com/getjava I still don't trust the damn thing so I haven't reinstalled IE6. Shame because the export and import features were quite useful. If you want a cover disk that works mail me your address and I will post it to you [no charge] Colin
  6. A momentary lapse of reason. The Delicate sound of Thunder, Wish you were here Dark side of the moon Division Bell Ummagumma Meddle The Wall The Final cut All Pink Floyd. OK so I live in Cambridge Frampton comes alive. Peter Frampton Colin
  7. Chris,What was the problem with IE6? Colin
  8. quote: Originally posted by Jim Roper: ON SECOND THOUGHTS! Was it a Colin Brett typo? Jim Roper http://www.searchlineuk.com/FishList.htm[/QB] Nope!!! Could have been the Cambridge News though!! Very dangerous ground being trodden here, TT could be a made up name and our sleuths could have happened on another TT. The purpose of the original posting was to let everyone [and that means all branches of angling] know about this letter and look out for any more and then put pen to paper or finger to keyboard and stand up for our sport. So please stop the guesswork and fight back legitimately. Colin
  9. It's got to be The Waterboys and "Fishermans Blues"Colin
  10. I have just emailed this reply to the Cambridge News: So Teresa Thom wants to ban fishing? I wonder, would there be any fish if it wasn't for fishing and fishermen/women making sure the waters of this land are clean enough to support fish and other aquatic life? The efforts that a considerable number of Anglers go to just to improve the environment are quite considerable, derelict waterways and overgrown lakes are cleared and renovated, trees planted along with a multitude of other plants. Restocking with not just fish but the food to sustain them as well as fish breeding. Far from practising a cruel and grotesquely evil sport, anglers do more good for the environment than any of the "we don't do it, so ban it" brigade. Many anglers also hold and support charity events around the whole of the UK. I assume that because they take part in a sport she sees a cruel and grotesque, they would no doubt be viewed in the same light. Now most of these charities are devoted to relieving human misery in one form or another, perhaps Teresa Thom would be better employed [if indeed she is employed] in doing something to help alleviate these problems instead of making threats [why Cambridge] against a perfectly legitimate activity enjoyed by millions both in the UK and world-wide! I must also assume she doesn't eat fish! Colin
  11. Call me cynical, but the above letter doesn't ring true. I mean, she comes from west London and will be going back to (Cambridge I presume) to gather more troops. Hhmmmm, sounds like she's from some sort of organisation or something, not just some 'member of the public'!! On another note, let's stop 'beating our chests' on forums like these. Things like, "if he did this, then I'd do that" puts us in a bad light. PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD IN A CONSTRUCTIVE MANNER OR IT WILL BE CLOSED My thoughts as well, hence why I posted the letter. Do we have any means of finding out whether any organisations have an address as quoted or am I being naive?? Thanks for the comments re. a constructive manner, I felt as if the positive posting was being hi-jacked. Colin
  12. From the Letters page of the Cambridge News 4th September 2002. Now let's ban fishing!! from Teresa Thom I had the considerable displeasure of witnessing an act of great cruelty on a visit to a popular fishing spot near your offices on Saturday. A group of people were engaged in a fishing match. I could not believe that this hideous and grotesquely cruel practise is still permitted under British law. Now that we are banning hunting with dogsin this country I am sure that we must ban this evil practise as soon as possible. Please tell your readers that if they ever see this evil practise they are to approach the fishermen and women and tell them to stop. I shall be returning to your area at the end of the month and looking for people who will support a ban on fishing. James Street, London W1 Enough said?????????????????????? Colin

  15. Probably one for Newt and the computer wizards out there. I have had problems when using IE5.5 & 6. Basically I kept getting page errors and java script void messages. Also unable to preview postings such as this one, couldn't access online accounts [bank & credit card]. I have done a clean install of Win98SE reloaded both 5.5 & 6 but the problem persisted. I have now uninstalled both 5.5 & 6 going back to 5.0 and everything is OK. Any ideas why this should be and does anyone else have the same problems? One problem with 5.0 is I cannot export and import my address book, where can I find it to save it incase of further problems? Colin
  16. A sad but familiar story! Mind you the extra 3 stone in weight probably didn't help! I recently sold my business and after a couple of years in a stress free job, I am pleased to say my whole outlook on life has changed. Nowhere near as grumpy and aggressive, problems are not problems any more.As for the money, I only earn half as much now but I can manage perfectly well. So although a necessary evil, money ain't the be all and end all. My only trouble is the extra 3 stones I have put on// Colin
  17. I seem to remember the "Dog Nobbler" name is patented, but not the pattern. Hence whenever "Dog Nobbler" flies are mentioned they are nearly always called Lead Heads. Colin
  18. Chesters, I am wondering why anyone would want to spy on your details anyway?? As you say you wouldn't look at ours, so why would we look at yours? The next question somebody might ask if they are reading all this is what have you got that somebody might want to see? Then they may start looking! I have nothing to hide and happily fill in forms and so far so good, it hasn't made any difference to my life, One little extra point, did you know there are more forms filled in when you die than when you are born!!! Not that it will worry us when we all pop our clogs!! Stay anonymous if you can, but don't let it worry you too much if you can't. Colin
  19. Yes!Epson 1200. Seems fine to me. BUT!!! The slides need to be of good quality to get good results. In other words the Tansparencies I have taken are crap, but the ones Ad Swier [professional] sends me are brilliant. Colin
  20. GH, Just had a look at your profile, did you join just to reply to my original posting? Also why the initials? The initials thing is a generalisation as I don't agree with alias's, hence you know me but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Colin [No problem using my real name] Brett
  21. GH, Sorry to have gone down in your estimation, but what generalised statement? I do realise that someone has got to clear up the mess and at the time of posting I was hopping mad having just seen one of my favourite places wiped out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There were plenty of EA managers about when I was there and still plenty of dead fish and yes it did smell. But tell me why is this allowed to happen? There must be a reason for the same thing to happen time and again?? As regards the EA workers having to clear up the mess, without wanting to be to brutal, surely that goes with the job!! Not pleasant I know, so I do have some sympathy. Colin 2 licences [and valid]
  22. Is Brown's restaurant still up and running? What about the Sloop pub?Fished on Co-ed Ithel beat [i think the spelling may be slightly out??] a few times. Huge chub and the ocassional Salmon. Cracking place though. Colin
  23. It certainly is! It was just beginning to recover from the last big kill about 5 years back. It seems there is a problem every year but this is the worst ever, about 2.5 tons of dead fish taken away and they are still popping up over a week later. Pity the EA doesn't concentrate on these problems instead of worrying about live and deadbait bans. Colin
  24. Bad news from the Old Bedford river at Welney, between 140,000 and 200,000 fish have been wiped out . Large numbers of fish have been cleared away by the EA, but more are now appearing and the stench isn't to pleasant. The cause is as yet unknown, but it could be a discharge of effulent into the already low oxyngenated river or indeed a complete loss of oxyngen. English Nature are most disturbed at this huge fish loss and are worried that the 3 Spined Stone Loach could have suffered badly, as this river is on of the few locations it still survives in. The pollution covers a 3 to 5 kilometre stretch of river from upstream of Welney towards Salters Lode. The local angling club rely heavily on this stretch of water for a lot of their revenue, but the River Delph is not affected and is available for fishing. Colin
  25. Greg, Forgot to mention asking the Wardens most of who fish and will give you good advice on "HOT" areas. Colin
